Keep in mind that Russia has virtually no debt and runs a trade surplus of $230 billion per year. Even with the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Russia's economy is growing at +3.5%. Compare this to the USA with $36 Trillion in debt, a $1.7 Trillion budget deficit that is increasing the national debt by $1 Trillion every 100 days. Who do you think is in a better position to fund such a development? Russia already has the technology for hypersonic missiles, so how difficult could it be to incorporate that technology into a fighter jet?

@ShadowStrikeTech That's exactly what I meant with my comment. Russia has one of the best education systems in the world, and that was the truth even in the USSR times. Their system produces large percentage of highly educated people who then later excell in physics, chemistry, math, history etc. Russians also have the ability to improvise with very limited resources, often in harsh climatic conditions. They gave rich history of overcoming huge adversity and unbelievable hardships, and it's almost encoded in their DNA by now. I think their rise to economical global superpower is the case of "not if but when". They are back to being a military superpower with the absolutely the best military in the world right now, and they did not accomplish that by being stupid. Infact, they operate on 1/5 of US military budget and yet they are better armed, with weapon systems that are at least one generation aged of the nearest competitor. The Mig-41 is not a fighter it is, like the Mig-31 a long range high altitude interceptor against the US bomber fleet. It has an altitude of 80,000 feet and a speed of near 2000 kph with a range of 3000 km. The West has no comparable aircraft especially since it carries hypersonic missiles and radar allowing it to shoot down at targets 1000 km away. It is the ability to hit low orbit satellites that represents the real improvement over the Mig-31. According to the IMF Russia now has the third best performing economy globally and they are not short of funds to develop this aircraft, just as they have developed the recently revealed Oreshnic hypersonic missile version of which are doubtless being developed to be carried internally by the Mig-41 as well as SU-57 and Mig-31.

One mistake they made right off, saying the Mig-25 capable of reaching speeds up to Mach 3. The Mig-25 was able to go faster then Mach 3, more like Mack 3.25, but it did have a setback because the engines were roasted and had to be replaced! Next some models have only one engine and is rather small. First size the Mig-41 would have to be large like the Mig-31 because they have to travel over vast spaces so they need to carry large amount of fuel. Then the single engine it would need to be a Turbo/Ram Jet type to reach the speeds they claim. If they make one large enough to do the job as the Mig-31 it would need two!

MiG-41 is an evolutionary replacement and tasks the MiG-31 is doing. Claiming it is a 6th gen seems rather far fetched, if the concept is nowhere oiutlined. In lack of reliable data, I would for now label it as a near 5th gen, like the Su-57; which by itself is not a bad. Beyond stealth which is only one spec, the major issue of gen 5 and beyond is the data fusion and battle space awareness; and here is where RU is significantly improving. In fact many concepts like stealth and cueing visors enabling pilots twere developed during the USSR, but the lagging behind in microelectronics, bogged them down, and appropiated by the West, refined and developed.

A few days later the reason was swifly altered removing everything about the spy plane and the warnings.
