Very interesting analysis, thanks. I'll go to bed a little bit smarter tonight 😄 I often catch signals that really sound close to this (in AM) when I browse the SW bands, mostly in the lower 3000-7000 hKz bands. I suppose they're not all over the horizon radars, but for most of them the sound seems too uniform (no variation) to be some kind of data stream.

That might just be DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale), a digital shortwave radio protocol.
