The movie is " The Hunter Killer". It's Russian Destroyer vs. The Russian revolt attack. The Russian Destroyer protected the US Submarine cause the Captain of the US Submarine don't want to kill the Russian Soldiers and Russian rebels. And The US Submarine saved the Russian president and the Russian Navy who are stranded deep in the ocean and they're all inside the US Submarine. The US Submarine has 100% opportunity to fight the Russian rebels but the US Captain refuse to kill any Russian soldiers.

The events of this scene, was to prevent nuclear war. One card the Russian Rebels tried to pull off was expecting the US Sub to fire a missile. If that had happened the Dead hand system would kick in. They didn't say Dead hand in the movie but the explanation of it was during the USA President and Chief of staff talking about how the Russian system is automated should a foreign missile be fired. My guess the Russian Rebels knew that and thought they could force the Americans to push the button on Russian nuclear weapons. I think the real winners is both the American captain and the Russian captain planning to work together and focus on peace and not give into extremism.

The american capitan, imagined that the destroyer would prioritize the life of its president on board, rather than the military command, which was effectively trying to kill the president elected to take over the country. By not counterattacking, he let the destroyer's own military personnel choose their loyalty, between the president and the admiral aboard the submarine or the military command that was trying to take over the country. Not all of the crew were sure that a soldier would be against the command and in favor of the constitution, but the captain believed so and was right on the bet. Because if he returned fire, in addition to the possibility of causing a war, there would be the fact that the military would take control of Russia and it would be the end of democracy in that country.

Thats not American destroyer its Russian. That destroyer was hunting the American sub before this scene. Later it defended the sub. A sub cannot defend itself from this much missile. It can only target the source.

Ya de entrada el título está mal, es un destructor ruso el que destruye a los misiles rusos lanzados por orden del ministro de defensa ruso, que intentó dar un golpe de estado y secuestró al presidente ruso, que en ese momento estaba dentro del submarino americano tras ser rescatado por un comando SAS. Los misiles son destruidos por los cañones de un CIWS Kashtan y luego el destructor lanza misiles del Sistema Antiaéreo Khinzal contra el Cuartel General de Poliarny.

I don't know why the captain instructed his crew to remove the safeties on their weapons if he had no intention of firing. If the destroyer didn't defend him, his sub would have been obliterated without any chance to fire afterwards. Additionally, no one would object if the America sub fired on incoming missiles. So this scene didn't make any sense to me.

NOT American destroyer - this is what Russian air defences supposed to be, unlike on Russian cruiser Moskva where only one of rotary canons worked because there were no spares for the other 5 ones, the radar was also apparently offline for maintenance and basically nothing except of smoking room was not working or was offline at the moment of sinking it :D ... looks formidable thought if that's what it would be like ...

El Moskva, entró en 2016 en reparaciones de larga duración, tras su despliegue en Siria, donde se actualizaron varios sistemas, entre ellos el Sistema S-300 F, adaptándolo para operar los misiles 48N6 de hasta 250 km de alcance. En Junio del 2019, realizó pruebas de los nuevos sistemas instalados y de la nueva propulsión. El 3 de Julio del 2020 acabaron con las reparaciones, pero no pudo comenzar las pruebas de mar, hasta Febrero del 2021, un mes después comenzó a realizar una serie de ejercicios y maniobras que duraron hasta finales de ese año, regresando a puerto para prepararse para la guerra. Por tanto, tanto el buque como la tripulación estaban en óptimas condiciones para su despliegue.

It's an administration headquarters inside Russian territory, not a "combat" facility. There is a difference. They may have some mobile anti-aircraft systems assigned to their location if there was a real possibility they would be engaged in a conflict situation but even if they had AA assets assigned, there wasn't nearly enough time to alert any defensive crews to take out those incoming missiles. A strike like this on an Admin facility is not expected.
