I love the music of the Soviet/Russian anthem. one of the greatest anthem in the world. And I was very pleased when President Putin decided to return to the old anthem in 2000. Even if the lyrics I like more are the communist lyrics. Funny that the writer of the lyrics was the same man in 1977 and in 2000!

Excellent rendition! As someone who was born in USSR can't help thinking about the traveling light of an extinct star, which may yet impact other life in other place in other time. BTW the composer, Alexandrov, was the son of a peasant, and eventually made his way up to conservatory professor and even army General. The song is official state anthem since 1944 (first performed at January 1 1944). Merry Christmas.
