The biggest problem with a Shipdesign like this is the launcher system. Having all off them so close in the middle-front section, well if anything goes wrong while a rocket is starting it could tear the ship apart.

...any ship develops rust and marine growth if it sits in port for too long and, early nineties, the Russian navy didn't deploy a whole lot. Simple wave friction against a moving hull keeps a lot of that off.

Without satelites this ship is unable to guide it's missiles. In WWII it would be overexpensive and useless. It's purpose is narrow - to sink modern era aircarrier groups.

I believe this is the world's largest warship that is not an aircraft carrier. But I don't know for sure. I do know that it carries the largest naval guns currently in service anywhere. I know it's most powerful weapons are it's missiles, but those guns are awesome.

And it is a fact that American navel ships have a decent blind spot in the back area if u get close they are good at long to mid range but close they kind of get into trouble they have ok fire power close but no where near the close range fighting ability as the kirov. Plus kirov is the biggest warship at see right now (not including carriers)

This ship honestly seems a bit ahead of it's time, if i have read correctly the Kirov's were built with VLS before the U.S had them, as well as being nuclear. A lot of ships these days seems to be growing greater in displacement and unless their is a switch up to like drones or something i can see ships potentially getting as large as this big beast.

I'd expect vertical launch systems, in "essence," first appeared on ballistic missile submarines as, while the earliest examples of those were being fielded, cruisers like the Long Beach still had pylon launchers (some with vertical "feed" but not vertical launch).

@@kempmt1 Not sure if any nation abroad had an equivalent earlier but, unless you count the Second World War vintage seaplane tender from which the equipment was tested, the first "combat" ship to have Mk.41 VLS installed was U.S.S. Bunker Hill (CG-52). Some of the Spruance class destroyers were later fitted with them during mid-life upgrades but I "believe" Bunker Hill was the first active VLS-equipped unit in the fleet. Earlier Tico' and Spruance class ships had twin arm-type launchers fed by magazines. VLS dramatically increased the capacity for near simultaneous launch which was absolutely crucial when facing the new possibility of Soviet saturation missile attacks.
