(NATO) Kursk offensive might turn into a Sumy offensive; I thought that too. Due to the Kursk offensive, the Russians are deploying an increased number of trained forces. As their numbers grow, it will become advantageous for the Russians to start an offensive toward Sumy via Elizavetovka-troiskoe area to encircle the forces in Kursk, possible? The fact that Ukrainians have redeployed forces to the east may make it even more appealing for the Russians to open another front, the loss of Sumy would be a catastrophe

Outgunned and outnumbered, Ukraine’s military is struggling with low morale and desertion: Dima spent years on the Ukrainian front lines. As a battalion commander, Dima was in charge of around 800 men who fought in some of the fiercest, bloodiest battles of the war - most recently near Pokrovsk, the strategic eastern town that is now on the brink of falling to Russia. But with most of his troops now dead or severely injured, Dima decided he’d had enough. He quit and took another job with the military - in an office in Kyiv. Standing outside that office, chain smoking and drinking sweet coffee, he told the news outlet he just couldn’t handle watching his men die anymore. Two and half years of Russia’s grinding offensive have decimated many Ukrainian units. Reinforcements are few and far between, leaving some soldiers exhausted and demoralized. The situation is particularly dire among infantry units near Pokrovsk and elsewhere on the eastern front line, where Ukraine is struggling to stop Russia’s creeping advances. CNN spoke to six commanders and officers who are or were until recently fighting or supervising units in the area. All six said desertion and insubordination are becoming a widespread problem, especially among newly recruited soldiers. Four of the six, including Dima, have asked for their names to be changed or withheld due to the sensitive nature of the topic and because they are not authorized to speak to the media. “Not all mobilized soldiers are leaving their positions, but the majority are. When new guys come here, they see how difficult it is. They see a lot of enemy drones, artillery and mortars,” one unit commander currently fighting in Pokrovsk told CNN. He also asked to remain anonymous. “They go to the positions once and if they survive, they never return. They either leave their positions, refuse to go into battle, or try to find a way to leave the army,” he added. Unlike those who volunteered earlier in the war, many of the new recruits didn’t have a choice in entering the conflict. They were called up after Ukraine’s new mobilization law came into force in the spring and can’t leave legally until after the government introduces demobilization, unless they get special permission to do so. Yet the discipline problems clearly began way before this. Ukraine went through an extremely difficult patch during last winter and spring. Months of delay in getting US military assistance into the country led to a critical ammunition shortage and a major slump in morale. As the battlefield situation deteriorated, an increasing number of troops started to give up. In just the first four months of 2024, prosecutors launched criminal proceedings against almost 19,000 soldiers who either abandoned their posts or deserted, according to the Ukrainian parliament. More than a million Ukrainians serve in the country’s defense and security forces, although this number includes everyone, including people working in offices far away from the front lines. It’s a staggering and - most likely - incomplete number. Several commanders told CNN that many officers would not report desertion and unauthorized absences, hoping instead to convince troops to return voluntarily, without facing punishment. This approach became so common that Ukraine changed the law to decriminalize desertion and absence without leave, if committed for the first time. Horetskyi told CNN that this move made sense. “Threats will only make things worse. A smart commander will delay threats, or even avoid them,” he said. Pokrovsk has become the epicenter of the fight for Ukraine’s east. Russian forces have been inching towards the city for months, but their advances have sped up in recent weeks as Ukrainian defenses begin to crumble. Pokrovsk has become the epicenter of the fight for Ukraine’s east. Russian forces have been inching towards the city for months, but their advances have sped up in recent weeks as Ukrainian defenses begin to crumble. Ukrainian soldiers in the area paint a grim picture of the situation. Kyiv’s forces are clearly outnumbered and outgunned, with some commanders estimating there are 10 Russian soldiers to each Ukrainian. But they also appear to be struggling with problems of their own making. An officer from a brigade fighting in Pokrovsk, who asked for their name to be withheld for security reasons, told CNN that poor communication between different units is a major issue there. One battalion commander in northern Donetsk said his flank was recently left exposed to Russian attacks after soldiers from neighboring units abandoned their positions without reporting it.

It is likely that the Ukrainians, and a utopian option. They are just fleeing, the armies described no longer exist, of them there are only a few soldiers left, all gathered and sent to Kursk. In the remaining sectors there are only cadets, not brought to a tactical battle, only non-active defense. And the biggest problem is without any doubt the lack of armaments, what Zelensky has achieved is absolutely insufficient, and not immediate.

Despite Ukrainian advances in Kursk, Ukraine is far from surrendering. In fact, Ukrainian forces are actively targeting Russian gas and oil storage infrastructure, disrupting rusdisn supply lines. Ukrainian drones are also being used to disable Russian tanks and military equipment, while strategic bridge destruction is hindering Russian retreats or progress. Meanwhile, Ukrainian territorial gains kursk are coming at a significant cost to the Russian military, with heavy losses in personnel and equipment. This, combined with the economic strain of the conflict, is causing Russia's economy to suffer, with inflation soaring to 19% and threatening to reach double digits. Ukraine's tactics are effectively slowing down the Russian advance, allowing them to gain ground incrementally while inflicting substantial damage on the Russian military and economy. This suggests that Ukraine is far from raising the white flag and is instead engaged in a determined and strategic resistance against Russian aggression.

@@oggaBugga After 2.5 years of special military operations, you claim that Russia's military remains largely stationed within their own borders, while relying on volunteers and mercenaries to fight in Ukraine. You obviously haven't been in army. Military advance is always staggered otherwise you overextend your supply and reinforcement routes and loose. Prime example from this war is ride to kiev in 2022 Assault troops advance --> take enemy positions --> assault troops stop to resupply or get rotated while support unit moves in to hold area/prepare artillery,AAS etc positions --> assault troops advance --> take enemy position --> stop for resupply/rotation whold support units advance to them. Rinse and repeat
@evilleader1991
@evilleader1991 8 күн бұрын
Real life is not a video game, you are acting like the idiots who determine that Russia has lost steam when you don't see the front lines moving for a few days. It is stupid and Denys does the same thing. For 10 days he will report Russian advances, but on the 11th day no Russian advances and he concludes immediately that Russia has been stopped and the situation reversed.

@christianriddler5063 8 күн бұрын
@@martinrolecek8837 Yup, logistics is like 90% and 10% is actual fighting/advancement. Especially with modern armies and their supply lines, all those supplies, all that ammunition and spare parts etc.. Setting up new positions, fortifying those positions, scouting the environment to map out new enemy positions, etc.. Then plans need to be made for further attacks/advancements. A modern military is a very complicated machine that needs to be well oiled and highly organized. It's barely possible to have the mobile warfare of world war 2 anymore, warfare has changed, it's far more stagnant and far more expensive than ever before.

You mixed up the rusdians and the ukrainians. The afu igas started its attack on the donbass 10 years ago, it was planned as a 1 and tops 2 weeks operation. After they got their asses kicked near donetsk city by the separatist, the withdrew and poroshenko gave the order to shell donetsk day and night. His exact words " our children will play in the streets of our city's, their children will be killed in their streets by our shells , let the fun begin ". The russia federation started in dobass 2,5 years ago to join the dpr and lpr . So don't rewrite history in a nafo matter

@@IndritBonatiKiev? Try again. Ukraine signed the initial stages of a peace deal and Russia withdrew from Kiev as a show of good faith. That was reported in western media but then Boris Johnson told Zelensky to break off negotiating because they could win the war. The AFU didn't win anything at Kiev. The AFU like to make imaginary victories like the Ghost of Kiev and The Battle of Kiev but they never happened. Like at Brovary where they claimed to destroy a whole tank regiment of over a hundred tanks but only destroyed one tank and one BMP in reality. 👏👏👏🤣🤣🤣
