I was thinking about the same thing. Their last moments on earth were spent in terror. No one should end their lives like that, but it is war and unfortunately horror and suffering are the main ingredients. I agree with you probably the vast majority of Russian soldiers being killed now, were pulled by force into this war. But I know the whole Ukrainian people were force by Russia into this war. So the best we can hope for is that many, many Russian soldiers die quickly and in a short period of time so this war can end soon. The Russian oligarchs and Putin are talking about a long war but they can’t fight a war without soldiers.

Trying to run back when your squad just got mowed down was the wrong move and shows that this guy had no idea what to do. Take cover. Determine enemy position. Return fire but mind your ammo. If necessary, hold till dark and carefully start to withdraw. Never try to just make a run for it and pay careful attention to your flank. Wait them out even if it takes all day even several days.

I have a hard time feeling bad for the russians. I can only imagine someone coming to my little town trying to take over, displace or murder my little family. I have a set of tracks a couple hundred yards from my home doen my dirt road thats similar to this. I could only expect that we would try to do the same thing. I feel bad for all the families involved. But conscripted or not those men would try to kill you the same as a volunteer would. I only have so much sympathy for that. If theyre lucky their wives will get a fur coat in their absence.
