Thank you for sharing this video... although, I was getting a headache after reading some of the comments. Just a thought I would like to share. You know, I am not advanced at all, but one of the first stitches I learned was the Russian spiral. I understood in the video that those were the beads you were using but you can substitute. Anyhow, My first Russian Spiral I did with shells. The shells that I was using could not be strung the "typical" way, so I just adapted. Additionally, my beads were extremely varied in size. Also, I understood that in doing the Russian that you pick up what you are going into, but I wanted to reverse my spiral in the middle, and I switched to picking up what I was coming out of. I guess what I am saying is aimed at your viewers... this video gives you the basics, you can fly from there. Trial and error is how you master the skill. If one bead doesn't work, try another... It took me several tries to figure out how to use the shells and I had to use a twisted wire wide eye needle to get into the shells. I also have been on the side that I was made to feel stupid when asking a question. No question is stupid. I even was able to figure out an answer afterwards and felt stupid, but to be treated as if I were stupid was just wrong. So, beading community (viewers), no question is too dumb to ask. Happy Beading.

You connected those ends so perfectly. I tried it and ended up with a mess! I think I’ll try it again and if it doesn’t work I’m gonna keep going with the bracelet and thread it on to a memory wire. I’ve done it before and it comes out really nice.

Thank you for this clear video. I would love to apply the bead ends and clasp as shown on the brown/tan/cream bracelet. Unfortunately the link sent me to the general website and I couldn't find that technique. Could you please send me the exact link to the finishing. Thanks so very much....By the way, my peacock rivoli bracelet turned out incredible! It was tough getting through some of those beads in the back, but I made a curved tool to slide just under. Where there is a will, there is a way! Thank you so much!

This is such a beautiful bracelet. I am wanting to make a bracelet and a necklace that is about 18" long, so how many beads do you suggest I buy? So, if I follow this tutorial, in other words for a bracelet and a necklace, how many beads do I buy? I apologize, if you say this in the video.

This is a slightly different method from what I've used before and it creates a slightly different spiral. It will be fun learning a different method.

Hi, I'm learning this stitch and I'm seeing a lot of thread showing. Is this supposed to be?? I'm pulling tight and fireline still showing. Also will i always enter and exit a smaller bead in any bead sequence? Please help... anyone :-) Thank U. P.S. Enjoying your channel, have learned so much. Thx
@Potomacbeadco10 жыл бұрын
It depends upon the pattern of any given spiral for which bead you enter... I believe that was the case in this one. You do tend to see more beads in general on spirals than on other stitches, particularly if there is a big difference between the sizes of beads in the different rows.

Could this be done with myiuki round and delica 11/0???
@Potomacbeadco5 жыл бұрын
It can be done with practically anything, but the smaller the beads, the thinner the necklace. Typically, Russian Spirals are slightly larger beads interwoven with round seed beads. You could try Delicas but they might show more thread due to their inability to negotiate curves. They prefer being side by side. Experiment and see what happens.

I’ve done a few pieces using this stitch. It’s much quicker than the Cellini spiral which I love. I use the .008 for this. I think it’s better than the .006 for the Russian spiral as it doesn’t seem to be a really strong stitch. Although it is a beautiful stitch. What do you think?
@Potomacbeadco6 жыл бұрын
Yes thread can be pretty flexible.
@olivia7sam6 жыл бұрын
Potomac Bead Company Thank you for your reply but what I want to know is do you think .008 is better than .006 for a Russian spiral?
@Potomacbeadco6 жыл бұрын
It is going to depend on the type of bead/size of bead. If you are using .008, it will be rather tight going through the beads with the needle and thread on a 15/0 bead. However, with 8/0 seed beads and larger, yes the thicker thread would work well for you.

i tried to bead this stitch with 4mm beads and 11/0 beads but the result was a very loose bit of beading with the 11/0 not spiralling up nicely. From pictures i know that the ratio of the size beads is not the problem. What could be the cause and how do i fix it up?
@Potomacbeadco10 жыл бұрын
That might be a bit too drastic of a size difference to use, at least next to each other. In this video she is using 15/0 and 8/0, and 8/0 are a good bit smaller than 4mm. Spirals are also generally difficult to keep tight, so you have to constantly ensure you are pulling as much as you can . Hope that helps.
@meredithvanschoick341610 жыл бұрын
Potomac Bead Company OH BOY! ACTUALLY THE BEADS ARE SIZES 15/0 AND 8/0 AS THE INSTRUCTOR SAYS MANY TIMES !
@Potomacbeadco10 жыл бұрын
Meredith Van Schoick Sorry meant 15/0 and 8/0. 4mm beads are much larger than an 8/0 seed bead, so again you are using beads with a more significant size differential than is used in the bracelet.

I have a photo of a bracelet my sister wants me to make; however, I don't not have any instructions. How can I determine, visually, how many beads are in the spiral circle?
@Potomacbeadco9 жыл бұрын
I would look at the number of beads you can see on one side of the spiral, multiply by the number of rows, then double that number (to cover the beads you cannot see on the rear side. That should get you pretty close.

We've never heard of anyone dying it. There are a number of different types of thread, some come in a lot of colors, others in just a few.

If i start with a odd count, do I need to do the step up, the step up is confusing for me.
@olivia7sam6 жыл бұрын
Annie Kelmon I’ve actually tried that and you still need to do the step up. There is a way to do this without using a step up. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZTaY4uqa8djZsU This video shows you how to do it. The step up is good because it makes a nice neat ending but anyway check out the link to the video I posted here. I hope this helps!

What's the name/kind of clasp you used and where can i get it?
@Potomacbeadco10 жыл бұрын
Are you asking about the brown bracelet sitting in the background? That is a trailer hitch clasp, though we don't use them very often. We do stock them most of the time, though I don't see any on the website. The blue bracelet was made without a clasp, and the silver cup button that we often use for clasps is available here: www.thebeadco.com/CategoryProductList.jsp?cat=Czech+Glass:Czech+Cup+Buttons
