Hey folks, Victor here! I'm back again with another video of my polyglot shenanigans, finding Chinese people in Seoul, South Korea, and shocking them with my fluency in Chinese and Korean languages.
So I went to this place the other day to get something to eat without realizing that there were Chinese people there as the person who works at that place was talking to me in Korean at first without a hint of Chinese accent. Well, it turns out that the lack of accent is due to him living in Korea for 30 years!

I get it, i've been in the opposite position where I was the only english speaking guy on a job for a few weeks. They knew a little english and I always appreciated them trying to speak english even if they were a little shy about it.

99% foreigners didn't get the correct pronunciation in Mandarin (including many famous polyglots) But your pronunciation is very correct I am from Taiwan, and your Mandarin skill is confirmed!😊

Xiao Ma’s accent back when he was in Beijing was better. It might be due to the pandemic or something, but his accent has become a bit worse, but he still knows hella vocabulary

Let's not forget that Xiaoma is constantly challenging himself to learn other languages so his Chinese accent is now a little bit changed since he has to memorize all dialects from other languages that he has learned so far. so he knows Korean, English, Chinese, Russian all from different language families Wow. This is more impressive than knowing multiple languages from the same language family. These languages are very different from each other: Russian - Slav family Chinese - Sino Tibetan Korean - Altaic/Turkic English - Germanic

Slavic and Germanic both belong to Indo-European. Korean is neither Altaic nor Turkic.

That was funny when the shop keeper said, “You don’t look like a Chinese person.” I remember watching a video of a remote place in China, where China and Russia had a border squabble. In the area there was a small Russian village, and the Russians asked the people of the village to move back to the Russian side. The villagers said it was too much trouble to move their things, so they stayed and simply became Chinese citizens despite being ethnically Russian. Very funny and very unusual.

i muffled up the courage today to speak for the first time ever (with help of my husbands encouragement) and practiced speaking to our waitress today :) i was so nervous but she was really nice and seemed happy to let me practice. definitely a successful first attempt! She made me feel less nervous to try it again soon :)
