This is really fascinating. Do you believe these are actually messages and that there is a key to deciphering them? I've only just found your channel and have no experience with HAM radio at all.

Yes, these are messages that are encoded digitally and then transmitted over the radio. The code is transmitted in five-number groups, thought to be encrypted for what is known as a "one-time" pad, an unbreakable code. Yes, I would encourage you to get your ham license. It is generally easy to find a local ham club who sponsor the exams and usually offer study classes. I volunteer to help teach such classes in my area and we have a 95% pass rate. You really don't need a ham license in order to listen on shortwave. But once you get bitten by the radio bug, you'll want to do more, such as transmit.
