Orthodox Christians around the world are celebrating Easter Sunday - the most important holiday in their calendar. Orthodox churches follow the Julian calendar, where Easter falls at a different time than in the Western tradition. Vladimir Putin marked Orthodox Easter at Midnight Mass in Moscow. Meanwhile, the war raged on in Ukraine, with one Russian missile making a direct hit on a church.

Yeah I found that shocking too. From what I heard, during the Russian Civil War not all Ukrainian Nationalists were for the dissolution of the Russian Empire and knew how tyrannical the Bolsheviks were. Pavlo Skoropadskyi who was a Ukrainian Nationalist and Monarch like head of state at the time felt awful about what was going on in Russia since he was a noble and wanted to help the tsarists restore their empire in some way with Ukraine Independent. It didn't really sit well with his enemies and was overthrowned not long after.

The worshippers in that picture are most likely pro-Russia, and the reporters, given their lack of knowledge in history or faith, failed to recognize this. There’s really no reason for supporters of the Royal Martyrs to support Ukraine in this war, unless they are brainwashed into believing the Bolsheviks are still holding power in Russia.

Keep in mind that Istanbul was a simpler name used to refer to Constantinople because Istanbul literally means in Greek, "to the City" so it's nothing new.

The independent Ukrainian church was recognised by the Patriarch of Constantinople. Unfortunately, there is doubt as to whether he had the authority to do so and if the canonical procedure was correctly followed. This leaves the status of the independent church as uncertain. It is significant that the other Orthodox Patriarchs have not recognised the independent church.

I'm from Youngstown Ohio in the United States and we have four Ukrainian Orthdox church's here one just four block from my house and about one third of the people here have at least one grandparent if no two or more who's are Ukrainian, you see it everywhere here the food a lot of the traditions we are a big mixture of peoples of many different back ground that have been woven together that makes us one , To my Ukrainian brothers and sisters both here and in Ukraina Happy Easter for a Irish ,Scott's , Welch mix mutt

In the early days of the war, we would see parts of the rockets or missiles found amongst the debris of destroyed buildings. As was the case when the train station was hit last year. We saw parts of the missile which turned out to be a Ukrainian Tochka U missile that hit the train station. We're not shown any pieces of the rockets or missiles anymore. It has been reported that Ukrainian air defense missiles do go astray. As was the case in Poland where a Ukrainian air defense missile went astray into Polish territory and killed two farmers.
