@@alexlawrence6440 Well here's the thing. Even if a movie is generic/formulaic but it's done well, like it fits the formula well, it's still a gud movie. But if we're gonna get a series of such movies, overtime we will probably get kinda disinterested. So unless and until there's a completely unique power set that's yet to be seen on the big screen or we venture into creative takes, this is a problem fr every genre. Same with kaiju movies.

Honestly Covid is a big reason why the movie industry is struggling. Like why would I have to drive like 15-20 minutes to my nearest theater spend $110 on three people( $70 of that is just at the concession stand) and have to deal with loud kids and rude people when I can just press a few buttons on my game system and can watch the same movie a month later for a fraction of the cost.

Money is one factor, but I think the other reason is simply damn near every movie that seems to come out, you’re rarely hearing good things about it. Maybe its just me, but it seems like unless a movie is something everyone is ranting and raving about all over the internet, the general consensus is “its okay” or “its mid.” Which prompts people, especially young people, to not go to the theater because why spend the cash to buy a movie ticket when you can wait 2-3 months for it hit one of the streaming services you’re already paying for anyway to watch for semi-free? At least thats how I perceive this whole thing and discussion.

That generation was willing to go watch a 3 1/2 hour Taylor Swift concert movie in theatres. They have the patience. They are willing to pay to sit through long movies. They're not "sick of superheroes". Put out good movies and you'll continue to break box office records year after year. It's that Marvel/Disney movies are all very same-y and not doing anything that makes them worth $50 night out at the theatre. It's really baffling to me that there are filmmakers that are still blaming the "next generation" for these bad movies failing, instead of just doing the tiniest bit of reflecting on the type of stuff they are putting out.

I think it doesn't help the movie industry and movie theaters that nothing coming out right now feels worthy of being seen in a theater. For the prices you have to pay to gt a true Movie Going Experience, there has been nothing worth seeing in so long, sure marvel is getting better and when they put out a hit it genuinely makes you want to go, but what beyond them has come out in recent months that warrants that sort of price tag?

Write better stories. Market the movies better. Then i'll go and watch it. But if it's just a bunch of people making poorly written stories and on top of that antagonizing the audience, no one in their right mind would pay to watch the movie.

There is not enough vision in hollywood anymore, originality is on the decline. either you are watching something good that was remade, retried, redone in a different medium, or your unlikely watching something new. All of these things cater to hollywoods politics. While movies are in a recession America will find something else to fill the void until the movie industry get its head out of its ass.
@mttylerdurden9

Originally isn't on the decline. It's just not wanted that much by studios or audiences. Tons of original movies come out, but people don't support them, and so the studio makes less and less.

Start making good movies again with new ip and people will show up. Hollywood has made terrible tent-pole films for the most part for last 15 years. The success of the MCU just masked the problem, when covid hit and they started releasing a steady stream of garbage it exposed how bad things actually were. I remember how i couldn't wait to see the trailers at the theater for upcoming summer blockbusters. Now that feeling has gone away, Hollywood did it to themselves.

I have ADHD, and it annoys the crap out of me that people look at their phone when watching a show or movie. If you are not going to 100% forcus on a show/movie you're watching, then don't bother watching. Granted I understand Ben that he needs something else to listen to when doing certain stuff. Like I need to listen to music or a podcast when doing mundane stuff like driving, cooking, cleaning, and working in order to focus on the task.
