Emerging in 1993, when Dr. Dre's G-funk had overtaken the hip-hop world, the Staten Island, New York-based Wu-Tang Clan proved to be the most revolutionary rap group of the mid-'90s -- and only partially because of their music. Turning the standard concept of a hip-hop crew inside out, the Wu-Tang Clan were assembled as a loose congregation of nine MCs, almost as a support group. Instead of releasing one album after another, the Clan were designed to overtake the record industry in as profitable a fashion as possible -- the idea was to establish the Wu-Tang as a force with their debut album and then spin off into as many side projects as possible. In the process, the members would all become individual stars as well as receive individual royalty checks.

Everything is a pendulum. Look at rap now all emotion based no lyrical matter for the most part. The next wave will be like the 90s and early 2000s again

" WU-TANG" unique in styles, sounds, lyrics and voice of a generation of the projects heard across the world. They deserve all the credit praised upon them. To this day the music they created are masterpieces compared to the POP-HIP studio mumblers with their processed cheese sound lol

Personal opinion: ODB is the most raw. Most distinctive rapper. No one can put things together like he does. It feels natural when he brings it. RIP Big Baby Jesus. ........ the best.

At the 11:45 mark ODB & GZA had a conversation with no words & RZA heard them thinking 😂🙌🏽
@DanielGonzalez-me9tm3 жыл бұрын
Something was going on there. Ghostface keeps looking at Dirty. U God tugs at Dirty and pulls him, Gza starts looking at Dirty and they make a few gestures. Dirty’s last gesture seems to be towards Meth who was talking. Many of the members used to say Meth would bogart often lol.

I am the disco queen listening to this- and um - who ever changed rap/hiphop to the junk it is today should be ashamed ,these guys had that something extra these dudes today are lacking .. these guys were story tellers the 90s version of soul music, telling the stories of strength pain and sorrow in these songs- damn these guys had to of lived a hellish life glad they had the fuel in their soul to get out n do better and speak out for their neighbors.. never thought a rap- hip hop group could bring me to tears- their story- damn..

I'd rather say that he was more like a tormented character, dealing with a bunch of mental issues and until his death he was never really free from pain. He needed help that he never get.

I like how he explained the meaning of his stage: bastard because no one in the hip-hop game has his half-singing half-rapping style. No one. Definitely unique

When I think, although I'm no hip-hop diehard I have heard a lot. I have never heard such a cohesive and lyrically rich song as "protect ya neck" and it's very playful as well. I do love "da mysteries of chessboxing" as well for similar reasons. Really very deep well for the listener to draw from. I'm so glad for them and I'm always saddened by the loss of ODB. What an interesting artist.
