1:53 I've got an idea that you can put handle on the side. In current design if you put handle to low, it interferes with the shelf, and if you put it to high, it's not comfortable and you could burn yourself while opening. Long handle look nice but you just opened it with one hand, like 1/15 of it's length.

Shouldn't the smokestack be on the opposite side of the damper?
@RustisGold6 жыл бұрын
That's a good question... I looked through other KZbin videos and saw that a lot of people have placed it on the same side. So I decided to place it on the same side as well. Works perfect.
@bFORCe20036 жыл бұрын
I personally would've put it on the opposite side but if it works the same side then I guess it works.
@markthornhill5196 жыл бұрын
Only time to put it on the same end as damper...is if you run a piece of sheet steel from one end of the grill to the other. In doing this it has to be above the damper so that the air can create a cross draw effect. Pulling your smoke over the meat your cooking. Otherwise...it does nothing and makes your fire hard to control. Also build a ash tray to rest on the steel you put in the bottom. This way your coals arent up against the side of the barrel. Not criticising your grill nor work. Just have built many...of all types. Hope it helps . You did a great job. Looks very nice

Wonderful thanks mate. That’s equivalent to 1’’ by me. Will have to source the vent maybe on amazon or online.

How do you add more charcoal when everything is hot and the grill is full of meat?
@RustisGold4 жыл бұрын
This is a very good question. If I am not alone when I barbeque it's no problem. I lift the rack and the other person puts the charcoal. However I am planning on making a small door on the other side of the BBQ (opposite from the ventilator). It's very easy to install it and will make it very easy to add the charcoal.
@Backwater_Boonies4 жыл бұрын
Need to switch the vent side with the side you are adding the door for adding more coal so you have a cross draft so you can get air to all of the coal not just one side but really great video thanks

Great build!! Only one impovement next time. Put the bottom firebox vent on the opposite side of where the exhaust tube is. Balances the hot spot effect across the length of the barrel.

Thank you very much! I'll have it in mind for my next project.

Awesome... I made a provision to your "Grill Rack" to add fuel (charcoal / wood) while cooking and added some "Hanging Hooks", used ceramic tile instead of wood shelves, and 2 t stats at either end (one near top, one near bottom of lid) to ensure an even heat... now adding a rotisserie too...

I would love to build one of these but I don't know how to weld. Maybe a dumb question, but what kind of welding are you doing? Is that stick welding?
@RustisGold6 жыл бұрын
Yes, stick welding. I want to go on the next level and buy a Metal Inert Gas (MIG).

Totally fantastic! I'd be proud to do half a great job! One question: there is a gap between the angle iron and the top half of the barrel, does the rainwater just sit there, or leak through to the inside? Is this even a problem? Thanks
@RustisGold4 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your comments! Glad you liked it! I always keep it in a dry place so there is no problem of rain getting there...
