We could not have predicted just how incredible this show would be, and how lovely the atmosphere was. Thank you. Join me as I hurriedly run around the show, taking in some of the majestic cars on display. From an amphibious truck to TWO Renault 5 Mk1s, Plymouth Fury to Suzuki Wagon R, Lincoln Continental to Citroen AX. Variety was very much the theme. Should be do it all again?
Rustival merch available for a limited time at rustival.co.uk but HubNut merch always available at hubnut.org - including pink Hello Happy shirts!
Thanks everyone.

I am so old that at some stage in my life most of these were regular street furniture and were seen just driving about - indeed I have owned a few - so I can sit back with a warm glow knowing I lived a life in great automotive times.

Great day, just wish I hadn't left it so late to book the day off work, as otherwise I may well have brought the Super National along. But I did very briefly appear in the background of your video when I was chatting to the owner of the Chevrolet Caprice, what an amazing car that is! I also couldn't believe how many Citroën Visas came along, I've previously owned two of them myself and they were rare then (mine were both 652cc flat twins too). I even managed to bump into a former housemate from when I lived in London 23 years ago, who I didn't realise was a Hubnut fan! Well done to all involved in organising this event, I shall definitely come to the next one if it happens again.

Hats off to everyone involved - not just the big names, but also the countless people behind the scenes that helped to keep such a massive event running so smoothly. Got really excited when Ian said "an LDV Convoy" but was stumped for a while when only 1 van rolled through shoot. Then I remembered that it was the van model name not a literal convoy of vans. Been a long day is my excuse.

American pedant here. 23:53 As late as the mid80s model names were still more like today's trim levels on the full-size Chevrolets. This '69 is most likely a Biscayne (the lowest trim that year) due to the lack of details implying Caprice's vinyl top and a lack of badge between the front wheel well and the door. Allegedly sporty Impalas and properly posh Caprices proudly wore their badge. Biscaynes also had four tail lights instead of six on the upmarket models. Edit: Your correspondent now knows, In actual fact, there was still a BelAir in 1969; legendary in the 50s but by '69 the second lowest trim. With the four tail lights, and badged on the fender.

A 'Did You Know' moment appeared with the first entry, an Austin 7. In 1928, it was the first motorized vehicle to reach Cape York peninsula - and return. The same car went on, shortly after, to complete a tour around the two main islands of NZ. Unfortunately, while aboard a freighter to the US - to carry on Austin durability - the ship foundered and was lost somewhere in the South Pacific

I sadly couldn't come to the event as I was moving a fridge and sofa-bed from Droitwich to my new home in Solihull. The roads were a wash with all these vehicles from the show as we saw the white Fiat 127, various classic Fords, Volvo's, a metallic orange Daewoo Matiz and the Citroën BX GT sailed past us on the M42. Safe to say Rustival made the roads a bit more interesting. I will be seeing the MG concept cars on the special evening the museum are hosting tonight (12th March 2024)

Lest it is forgotten, there were many, many more than worthy vehicles parked in the visitors' car park that deserved to be on show - presumably because their owners could not get exhibitors' tickets - I'd hate to think that they were misdirected. What a fantastic show this was. Great to meet friends and natter for the first time in ages, as well as meet new in the real world at last - this one talks too much! Simply, congratulations to all.

@@HubNut - no bad thing either, Ian👍 A huge success not only in numbers, but in the atmosphere that with such events should be held - similar to events that we at Great Western Saabs, on a smaller scale of course, have made possible and hosted for the last 20 odd years - social, informal, dip in, dip out, activities for young and old, oh, there'll be cars there of not just the Swedish variety, and friends for life made.
