Willie Weeks on bass. Willie has played with numerous great musicians including several Ronnie Wood albums. He's also played a lot with Clapton and I believe is still part of his current touring band. Andy Newmark and Willie Weeks are right up there with the greatest rythmn sections of all time.

I saw the New Barbarians in 1979 at the concert Keith had to do for the blind as part of his punishment for the heroin charges in Oshawa, Ontario, CA. I like these Barbarians better. But the whole Stones band also showed up and played the benefit also. Their only appearance in North America in 1979. A singular Keef experience!

This was the best band of this era for this type of music. They were better than the stones...just not an arena band. But if you like rock, soul, funk and most importantly, guitars, this line up is the best of all time. Mick, Rod and Keith all stole from Ron. Ron just didn't get the brass ring, but he certainly back others who took his amazing presence and guitar shaping...his chord and attack were unequalled.

What a thrill to see this again after all these years, thank you rustncrust for uploading this, it brings back fine memories of Kilburn and the pubs in the surrounding area. The gig wasn't bad either. I taped this gig at the time with the m/c between my feet, replaying it on the milk train home in the early hours of the morning. Still got the tape.....but dare not play it anymore. Many thanks again :) Got any more!!!!!!

My pleasure. Confusion often arises as, when the above gig was finally released on DVD, the named the band "The First Barbarians" or someting similar. The name The Barbarians was suggested by Neil Young in '79 for the band Woody was putting together to promote his new album at that time (1,2,3,4, from memory) but they couldn't use it as there was already an American band called by that name...hence The New Barbarians....

The Shirley in question was Shirley Arnold, who worked for the Stones from the early 60's until around '73/'74 when she left The Stones to work for The Faces. Somewhere I've got a copy of a message from Ronnie to Shirley on which he's written in large capitals "Hello Shirley"...need to ask her if this was before or after "I.G.M.O.A.T.D." was released. Who knows, this may have been the inspiration for the song!
