I've never seen those before KZbin. But Im from Scandinavia, I guess they weren't sold in Denmark. I remember the Matchbox model cars, my little brother had a lot of them. I'm a girl so I never got any, but I played with my brothers toys lol

My grandad used to repair or restore other people's toys about 40 odd years ago. And one day he told me of an old tin yacht he was repairing and on taking it apart he found a rolled up piece of paper inside. The paper had been hand written with the date of 14 August 1920, It then went on to list the cost of a house and the weekly wage of the average person plus the price of individual items that made up the daily shopping. When he repaired and put the boat back together he also put the list back in the boat exactly where he found it. Watching what you do just made the connection. Have you come across anything like this in your restoration work?
@joe_diy5 жыл бұрын
Cool story! The only thing I've found in a toy was an old padlock stuck in a Doepke fire truck I'm working on now. I did find some old 60's matchbooks and sunoco leaflets under the package tray in my 64 Chevy, that was pretty neat!
@iamcarbonandotherbits.80395 жыл бұрын
@@joe_diy . You should put your name and date of restoration in your work, That way you will have left something for future restorers to check back on especially if they end up in a toy museum.

I think you should show more of cleaning. For example, how the rust stains were removed from this white interior. This moment when you take it of from cleaning solution, how you cleaned front grill, how you cleaned rubbers :) i think this will make video better because it will show better attention to detail and how much time it took to clean everything :) this will make even better impression :) but great video :) relaxing to watch :) greetings from Poland :)

I've watched enough of these now to start to seriously wonder what restoration does to the value of the toy.
@jimbartosevich4985 жыл бұрын
@hawkturkey to tell the truth, I'm not sure that the value always moves in the same direction. I mean granted, original in good condition is always most valuable. But some of these restores really seem like they widen the potential base for resale to make the tours worth more. I suspect that like any other antique, the connoisseur will keep looking for that well kept original, while people with fond memories of their favorite childhood toys might be more likely to purchase this guys after than his before
