Tyin Multiple size patterns on the same hook is Excellent Advice as many people "believe" you have to hide the hook to entice a fish ( which is not the case) 😁

Great video! Love your content! Have you had any issues with Firehole hooks bending out? I’m new to fishing pyramid so I’m trying to get an idea of what hooks hold up best.

@@treysonnorton488 thanks! I’ve had zero issues with Firehole Sticks, fulling mill, or tiemco. Those are the three main hooks I tend to use. I always choose a 2x heavy wire hook when tying flies for pyramid. I’ve broken hooks on occasion, but never bent them out. I’m pretty picky with my hooks and choose to spend the extra money for quality hooks. The way I see it, that’s the part of my setup that’s making direct contact with the fish, so I’m not gonna skimp on price there.

Thanks for the great pattern! I am new to fly tying and am struggling to find the white antron in my local fly tying shops. 2 stores did not know what I was talking about yet it is used with a lot of tiers here on You Tube. Is it known by another name? or is there another source where I could get it?

Lately I’ve actually been using a different product, white Uni-Stretch. It comes on a spool just like regular tying thread. It’s easier to use, and looks more like gills in my opinion. If you just google “white Uni-Stretch”, You’ll see what I’m talking about.

Great channel bud- What time frame would you target to make a trip to pyramid for the giants? I know it can vary, but an average time frame, I'm 1000 miles away, hopeing to have a chance at a giant-

Thank you! Every season is different. Generally, I’d say that if you want quality rather than quantity, you’d want to target the colder months. December-February. The bigger fish have to eat all the time. Their large size comes with a much higher caloric requirement. The smaller fish can stick to the deeper, warmer water during those cold months, and remain in a more lethargic state to conserve energy, thus not requiring much feed. So when you do hook a fish during that time, the chances of it being a big fish are high. As you move closer to the spawn, and the water temps rise, you have more fish of all sizes cruising the shallows while they stage up for the spawn, and there’s also more feed at that time with midges. So while the big fish are still there, the smaller fish are also there. You’ll catch many smaller fish before you hook into those big ones. I usually like to fish it in March because you get a little bit of both worlds. Water temps are usually still low enough, and it’s early enough in the season, that you’re not getting those huge numbers of fish moving through as often as you will in April. But again, this is all weather dependent.
