I believe this is a blacksmiths "flatter" or set hammer not a meat hammer. Nicely refinished, though why did you remove the makers mark?

Why in the world you have to grind this hammer?😢 you remove all the beauty patina😢 it was unnecesary

This is almost definitely a flatter not a hammer. I'm a blacksmith and use one if these all the time. It is laid on the hot steel and struck with a hammer to flatten out the steel and remove hammer marks.
