Great video thanks for taking us with you. I’m getting into carving. I’m using it as a means to get out of my head. I’ve got ptsd a d I had a stroke. I love the different techniques you used. Amazing how detailed work you can do with an axe

Great video. I have two questions for you. Firstly, did you use fresh birch wood? If not, how long did you dry it out for? Also, what 'food oil' did you use, (olive, vegetable oil etc)? Would there be a more preferable oil type to use for preservation of the wood? Many thanks :)

Hi buddy, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The birch tree was downed for reasons unknown, high winds possibly. I'm unsure how long it had been down for, but the section I used was fairly dry. I cut it on the day I carved it. As for the food oil, I believe it was olive oil at that time. I learned that it was better to use food grade oil on items that would be used with/for food and drinks.
