That’s exactly how I tune my engines, people go on about temp guns etc but it’s totally unnecessary. The engine tells you what it needs. I agree that the mid tank lean is a load of crap! The pressure makes no difference once the engine is running as the engine sucks the fuel in, that why the fuel system has to be airtight! All I’d do different is run for a bit longer at full speed only because I’ve tuned over short distance like you’re doing here only for the engine to be too lean when I’ve run it over longer distance. 1/4 turn richer fixed it. Great vid, clear concise and without waffle! If you’re ever in the west mids look me up and we’ll go for a blast!

the k engine are not cheap that for sure the parts if you can find them are a pretty pricey the crank shaft over 100$ by its self you can tell the difference when its a k engine the head and block have more detail in then. im not sure if they were also made by force or not the 21 still a beast after how many year savage

I know where that half a tank lean thing comes from. It’s those who are learning and don’t have the low needle set yet and have a big idle gap. When the tank runs out because the idle is high it revs right up and almost seems like the idles are raising leaning out. It’s just that I’m sure of it. Because in my experience with rich low needles that’s the only time it happens. When the low needles is set right it never happens. As far as I’ve seen. Once I believed that half a tank lean big but it’s infact a way to rich now needle single easy. It’s just been overthought 👊☺️
@HaggardRC9 ай бұрын
I’ll agree with you on that but not a rich low end, a lean low end. A rich low end wouldn’t cause the tick over to rise I don’t think even if the fuel is running out.
@rcsendandblast15799 ай бұрын
@@HaggardRC sure it does dude. When it’s set rich To Rich The gap needs to be real big to allow it to stay idling The low needle not the high. When it’s open so much and it runs out of fuel what’s gonna happen. With a big idle gap. The same thing as it does when it leans out the power increases for a few seconds. The only time I have seen this half lean issue was when I was listening to someone telling around where to keep my tune. That was to lean on the high and to rich on the low. When you do tuning videos you only tune the high needle mainly and your low is always already set properly. Most people start learning not knowing or having the low set right at all. Hence they listen to the typical just the high first. Then the low That for me had never worked I had that funny issue tuning listening to that advice. I had the half a tank lean bog happen lots. It was not a lean bog it was infact a rich bog. But being new I thought it was a lean bog See how this gets misinterpreted. When the low is set to rich One can set the high speed dangerous lean and the motor will still seem boggy and have no power. Next video for tuning you do make that newbie mistake Set your low 1 full or 1.5 turns out to far and set a massive idle gap. When it raises in idle upon starting rich the needle again to drop the idle instead of tuning it correctly. Now do you see how it becomes to be a factor. For those who have the low needle pre set and do not have to touch it That would make a better tuning video. In a nut shell how can a nitro stay idling when it’s so rich it won’t move. Easy your low is set right. Nobody seems to do tuning videos where both needles are way off and the gaps way outta spec. ☺️✌️

really good video bro the k series engines are difficult to tune at the best of times. I must say I have to disagree with the half tank lean bro I have did many tests myself on the bench and driving to bust this mith and it definitely dose in my opinion have a huge effect on the tune of the engine so what I do it tune the engine with half a tank then when you fill the tank it will be a but rich but as it goes down it runs into a decent tune just in my experience❤ anyway anyway

The half tank lean 😂 I know you take issue with this and I used the agree. However in my humble opinion if your tuning your savage to a usable safe tune on the rich side you won’t be affected with it as much but once you start really fine tuning (as close to Lean without being lean) for maximum power that is when you will notice it. And I know many people disagree but so many people experience it to many for it to be untrue! 😂 sorry Haggard!!!

Hi love watching your video’s thanks. Have just got a question if you could possibly help me out. I’ve got the inferno mp9 buggy with the kE21 engine which the throttle servo died on me so have replaced it but with a much faster one which seems to have improved throttle response some what but…it seems to have thrown out the lsn tune quite a bit (if changing the servo can do that I’m not sure) I’ve now adjusted the lsn but where it is set now you’d expect a very very rich lsn setting but this is where the engine now seems to be happy (I’m not a beginner btw I’ve had nitro rc cars for years so I know how to tune them well at least I think I do haha) Just can’t see how changing to a high torque and faster throttle servo would change the tune. Have you any ideas what it could be or what might of happen please? Carb opening and returning as it should and idle gap all good. Any help much appreciated
@120291Chris9 ай бұрын
Forgot to mention the lsn is out about 4mm from flush for the engine to not be lean at idle and starved of fuel until hsn takes over but this lsn setting would normally be very rich from experience.
@HaggardRC9 ай бұрын
Well mate I suppose the faster response could mean your old settings can’t keep up with the servo anymore meaning when you pin it, it can’t deliver enough fuel fast enough. So a richer setting can. That’s the only explanation I can give. If the engine is happy, you should be happy :)
