For returning viewers or future viewers, Left over fuel in the car gels up and clogs the tubes, you wont have proper pressurization in the fuel tank from the exhaust, also the one way bearing seems to have been gunking up from that old fuel, for future you could have used the flywheel to reel back the pull start cord. Also your idle screw was too low everytime you returned the servo to neutral it was closing the carb gap and turning off. In the end of the vid you opened the carb gap and richened the LSN which causes a false low idle, that causes flame outs, and will load up frequently... use the pinch test to set you lsn (low speed needle / fuel mixture needle) then reset the idle gap screw, then do wide open runs for setting the hsn (high speed needle)... good luck

I'm fairly sure this was the video after all the trouble from loosing the mid range needle while running lol. None of the needles were set, plus the fuel was probably a few years old. Good advice though dude!

Thanks for the reminder of how terrible these things where to start and keep running, i got here also by having some inspiration thinking to rebuild the old nitro savage but this bring back so many nightmares i not so sure anymore. If anything it will just be for the building fun/show and not driving. Thank god for electro tho. That got me back into the hobby, and now 20 minutes after i wanted to start driving i already ran through an battery pack instead of trying to get it to run longer then 30 seconds. Still that sound tho...
@HaggardRC4 жыл бұрын
Nah man Nitro all the way, I'd never change my savage for anything lol.
@dyna.4 жыл бұрын
@@HaggardRC Of course, do whatever you want to do man! I only noticed after commenting on this video that you actually have a pretty big nitro based channel and i ended up watching a lot more of your vids, good stuff! Last weekend i finally started to take apart on old nitro engine to go try and clean/rebuild it. No hurry tho it will just be a slow side project but the intent is there. @Geocentric good stuff thanks for all the info, i will definitely look back at it later if/once i get to the running part. If anything the biggest problem last time was mostly just me and i guess the most annoying part was not being able to drive the car if you can't even get it to start. But this time around i can just drive electro cars while taking my time to get back into nitro, good setup for someone like me i guess.

Haha sorry Ryan if you're new to me and my channels I can see how you would take my reply the wrong way, it was meant in a kind way. Sorry to loose you matey. As far as the pull starts go you'll fins they're very easy to snap, but I found back when I was a kid that if you do short sharp pulls it'll start better anyway. They're not like lawn mower engines lol.

Go to electric because obviously you dont know how nitro engines work my man. It’s best for you because maintenance on a electric is less complex then nitro.💯
@HaggardRC6 жыл бұрын
Nitro engines are simple to maintain, there is very little of them being a 2-stroke engine. I've now sold all of my Electric RC's apart from a Mini-T. I've never really been a fan of Electric.
