Rutgers vs. Boston College Condensed Game | 2022 ACC Football

The Boston College Eagles fell to the Rutgers Scarlett Knights, 22-21. Quarterback Phil Jurkovec threw for 283 yards and 3 TD’s, but threw 2 interceptions in the loss. Eagles WR Zay Flowers caught 10 passes for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns on the day. Rutgers rushed for 212 yards and 3 touchdowns.

It's a 60 minute game, and you can't get dejected if everything doesn't go your way after 45 minutes. Rutgers hung in there and gutted out a win.

Call it the Schiano effect. Prior to Schiano's return, both lines were undersized. Offensive line averaged 285 lbs. Now they average 320 lbs. Defensive line averaged 260 lbs. Now they average in the 280-290 lb. range. Larger lines are a must in physical conferences like the Big Ten and SEC.

I know about the BC OL but I was sad when Garwo picked BC instead of Rutgers. After watching this game, I am now not as sad. BTW, BC has a great QB, a stud receiver and a very solid TE. They look like a 6-7 win team this year if those 3 players remain healthy.

As a BC fan I'm hoping for 8 wins not 6 or 7. We were 6-6 last season which was a little disappointing because the offense didn't become consistent until late in the season.

Evan Simon for Rutgers looks like the most polished qb at this point. Wimsatt still has a long way to go in his development.

Simon is a much more polished passer, but Wimsatt is such a weapon running the ball. Rewatch the run before the final touchdown; both the defensive end and outside linebacker on that side chop their feet and get their eyes back to Wimsatt even though he doesn't have ball. This allows DiRenzo time to pull around and make a wall for Salaam to run through for 22 yards. That's the type of invaluable contribution Wimsatt brings to the offense.

BC has no Offensive Line, watching Phil Jurkovec play was like watching a snuff video. Definitely expected more out of the O-Line. This is bringing me back to the 2015 season when BC went 3-9. The defense was Swiss cheese against the run, the Offense line was very bad. Definitely won’t win more than 3 or 4 games this year.

I disagree. Offensive line play can improve over time. Phil J is very talented and maximizes the opportunities for our skill position players. As long as they move the ball on consistent drives they can go 7-5.
