I remember listening to this when i was so broken I had completely given up, I was suicidal, terrified and lost. I was being abused daily and no longer saw my life ever getting better. Fast forward 5 years and here I am living with my caring fiance in a safe place and a home we own and finally starting to heal. I can't even express in words or actions how much this song means to me. I am 16 and I believe with my whole heart and soul in Peter Pan and Hook and Neverland. I've read the book, I know J.M Barrie created the characters in 1902/04, but I love it so much that I've turned it into my reality. Ok here’s my theory about this song: Neverland = heaven Peter Pan = an angel Lost boys = children who died young from suicide, illness, abuse, or murder Captain Hook = the reality that the girl in this song is only imagining they she’s in heaven. The thing that happens to me is, i have a perfect life, parents who love me, a great house, presents on Christmas, food on the table, but yet, I feel miserable I feel depressed. And I feel even worse when I think "I have a great life, a perfect life, I shouldn't be sad, I shouldn't be feeling like this" and I feel terrible for feeling bad. There are people out there that deserve my life more than I do But still... I help everyone, always, I'm always happy. They will keep asking how I am until the only option I have is to tell the truth, and they would hug me, and hold and while I cried on their arms they would say "it's ok, I'm here, I'm not going anywhere, it will be okay, it will be just fine". I just need someone to save me, because I try to save myself, but I can't, I just can't. I need someone to find me and just say that it will be fine. I guess that person doesn't exist... Ugh, it's just, I can't feel anything, I just feel numb. And whenever I'm not feeling numb, I only can cry. It's like I don't care anymore I just think that, if I wasn't here anymore, I wouldn't have to feel this way, I wouldn't have to face everyone with a happy face while I'm actually dying. And, sure, someone would say "she just did that for atencion" but I wouldn't have to deal with that, I wouldn't be here, I would be better Maybe I'm just being selfish, but I just, I just need to stop feeling this way

Want to know something? Holding everything for us is the worst. Did it for a while before i started telling my ex about how i felt... And she fell into depression because of that. She always listened without telling me her problems. She's fine now, but my point is : talk to someone. A psy is made for this. I broke trying not to tell anyone how i felt. My ex broke because she couldn't tell me how she felt. Talk to someone before you impulsively do something stupid only to feel something. I did and i felt dumb immediately after. You deserve this life as much as anyone. Don't make the mistake of thinking otherwise. I won't say i love you because i don't know you but i can say that many people love you and they would be glad to listen to your feelings

its okay to have a "perfect" life and feel the way you do, your sadness is valid. your pain is valid. you have to remember depression is your brain chemistry, its not your fault for feeling how you do, you should seek professional help, i know that it might seem scary at first and it might be hard to talk about but baby steps, take it one day at a time. maybe let a friend know that youre not doing to well or if you have a school counsellor you could go to them, i know its easier said than done but once you let someone know, it feels like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders and you feel a little less alone. if you feel like you cant talk to anyone face to face about it there are online counselling websites that let you chat with a licensed professional. I love you and i hope you consider talking with someone. its okay to not be okay.

You remind me of one of my closest friends for a time, she refused to let me help. Please note that you are valued by someone and to seek help by those whom love you. Don’t shames yourself for the way you feel the human mind is a fickle thing. The point is that you feel that way and you must discover why. The first part hits hard “There was a time where i was alone nowhere to go and no place to call home” Because 2 years ago when i was 10 i was really depressed and felt my worst. People body shamed me at a very young age and because of that i tried to starve myself and it worked for 2 weeks but my family eventually found out and they made sure that i would be healthy again i even wrote a death note incase i did wanna end it all. I was crying every night. No one could ever make me happy again. I was also a victim of bullying at school. But i am very grateful because i have an amazing family, house, and friends but i never think that i deserve it. I a “poplar” at school but im always insecure about my weight. I still have never forgotten the moment when i tried to get a knife from the kitchen and try to cut my self. But then i realised what it would do to my parents and friends because i know for a fact that they would blame themselves f i did die. I am now very happy that didn’t do it because if i did i would ave never experienced the best things in my life. Also if you are ever thinking of ending it please dont because if you do people will miss you and for your birthday they would “ccelebrate” your death And make sure to remember that you matter.

To me it seems like a metaphor for schizophrenia and depression. my theory : Peter pan -depression Lost Boys-Suicides Captain Hook- Reality Neverland-Paradise Peter pan takes the boys who are alone to never-to-be to join other lost boys, which means they are also depressed. Peter pan says he never wants you So, as it is the Depression, it will never leave you. The earned capital is what brings the reality of the world, which means that they try to escape reality.

Actually, the Lost Boys are not suicide victims. The book says that the Lost Boys were children who fell out of their perambulators when they were still in the hospital. If they were not claimed in a week, they were sent to Neverland to follow orders. Now, Hook was based off JM Barrie, the author, and he was supposed to represent adulthood and stuff. Peter is not depression, he is simply a little boy who ran away the day he was born because he heard his parents talking about what he should be when he grew up. He doesn’t want to grow up. Remember, the story took place in the 1800’s. I understand that depression and suicide existed back then, but it didn’t happen as much as it does today. This generation is really focused on negativity, depression, racism, suicide, and all that kind of bad stuff. Not everything is depressed and not everybody who is having a bad day will commit suicide or anything.

I’m like my own bully and the worst thing is that I can’t stop myself... I’ve stopped feeling sad and crying in public after the second loss. For the depression, my family think I had a little season depression but that’s all. I don’t know if I’m really having a real severe one, but I don’t think it’s anything to worry about for now. Anyway, I can hide it all inside. I’m used tu it now. How are you doing? Having any problems you want to talk about?

I’m at a really high level of hating myself, so I’m at the point where I think that I deserve pain and that my life is too good for me. I don’t know why people like talking to me, or why I have friends. I just think I’m horrible. I know it’s sad, but I’ve tried everything and those thoughts just don’t seem to go away. So I hurt myself with my thoughts. I’m not to the point to hurt myself with a blade, I’m only doing it with my nails for now... Geez I must sound like a person who should go to a madhouse. For talking about it to others, the thing is, my best friends are either angry or sad when they hear what I think of myself. They’ve given up on trying to cheer me up (they’ve been trying for more than 3 years now, so I understand), and I really don’t want to ruin their day with my problems. They just always seem so happy... I don’t want to ruin they’re mood or worry them. With my parents, my mom would probably get angry because I didn’t told her before, and be even more stressed all the time (if that’s even possible). My dad would probably worry a little, but soon would go back in his bubble... For the absence of feelings, it gets worse every day. Not long ago, i realized I had absolutely no reaction when I heard that someone’s dog had died. Same thing happens when I see a show and there’s torture or a lot of deaths... Yep, that’s my life all right. It must be depressing just reading me... Oh, and by the way, thanks for saying I seem nice 🙂
