I think a lot of their best hooks were those spontaneous moments that stick in your brain when listening to a song. There were a lot of those hooks toward the end of their songs that you always look forward to.

In 9th grade I had a teacher who went absolutely crazy over this song. He started calmly explaining what the song was, who The Pointer Sisters are, translating lyrics into Swedish.. and then ended in a crescendo screaching that "THEY MEAN THEY ARE HORNY!". Thank you kind sir. I would never have figured that out.
