We welcomed a bunch of upper middle class, out of state "progressive" elitists, then allowed them to take over local and state government.

@@fredliperson9171 A lot of the people who voted them in are also progressive, elitist, transplants. But, yes, they were voted in. And enough regular Vermonters also voted for them, which is what I meant when I said we allowed the takeover.

Yep. This is the inevitable result of "progressive" politics.

This ain't nothing new. I've grown up here my whole life, and I can tell you first hand it's always been bad. Homeless and drugs everywhere. Growing up, I kinda thought it was normal seeing those little oarnge caps everywhere you go. When people were surprise to see them, I was surprised they hadn't known about it. They call it rutvegas for a reason.

@@420Sandwhich You must be a lot younger than me. Yes, the drug problem has been around for a while, but it seems like it's gotten a lot worse in the last few years. And the homelessness has definitely gotten way worse in the last few years. Shopping cart homeless people, backpack homeless people, people just sitting around drinking Natty Ice, sometimes in the open, panhandlers in the Walmart Plaza area - I don't remember seeing much if any of that stuff until recently. Not to mention the dirtbag homeless motel people. I think the problem is that we as a community and society have made all this nonsense acceptable.

Go to Burlington downtown and the area around, plenty to see. Equity turns everything into shit.

I haven't been to Burlington in years (and I have no plans to go back) but I've heard the stories and seen the footage. The whole state is going down the toilet thanks to our "Progressive" leadership in the legislature and places like Burlington. Vermont ain't what it used to be.

They way we view and treat homeless people needs to change. They are people and part of our society and we should not exclude them. Each county should build one or more homeless villages, with security and healthcare services etc all based at the one site. We need to help people get back on their feet. Tipping a load of sharp jagged boulders is not a very humane method of controlling homeless encampments. Society needs safety nets to help those less fortunate.
@AngryVermonter7 ай бұрын
Gotta disagree. The more we do to "help" people, the worse this problem gets.

Dude WTF are you talking about? In Burlington on Williston road they gave them the the whole Holiday Inn hotel and you know what happened? There was no saving this place, they demolished it and built a whole new building. These people need more than just handing them stuff.
