Kenya's President, William Ruto, is on a state visit to the US. He's the first African leader to go on a state visit to the US in 16 years. Throughout his presidency, US President Joe Biden had promised to travel to Africa. But no African trip materialised over all this time, so instead, Biden chose to invite Ruto to the US before he heads for the presidential election in November. Ruto is keen to use his US trip to bring investments to Kenya, and get debt relief. The US looks set to extend some concessional loans to Kenya, and Microsoft and Coca Cola have announced investments in the country.

Call our allies vassals, but all have a higher standard of living and gdp per capita than China and Russia combined. All travel when they please, have medicines they need and freedoms to be themselves in their own land.
