@@kennethselin1398 Because that throw is not the kind of throw you imagined that sadly happens a lot from unsportsmanlike players. That throw almost killed an Asian worker taking photos on the court. It missed the worker’s head by a few centimeters. And the throw was done with EXTREME force. Any human being who saw that throw will demand action be taken. Ruwen could be a great person, and he certainly is a great defender in the sport. But, the sport must clearly show what is not acceptable. A suspension that keeps the offender out of the very next tournament after his very dangerous and potentially criminal conduct in the last tournament is the LEAST the tt world should do

A few days ago, after losing in the first round in the Singapore smash, an enraged Ruwen Filus threw his racket with EXTREME force in the direction of the audience sitting area. The racket traveling at great speed hit the metal barrier separating the audience area and the court. An Asian camera worker was there taking photos, and the racket missed the worker’s head by just a few centimeters. It’s not the kind of throw that sadly happens a lot today from unsportsmanlike players. That throw was done with EXTREME force towards human beings, and the flying racket could kill or at least severely injure human beings. If it was not for a few centimeters and a metal barrier protecting the audience area, we would be talking about jail sentences here. Not even a suspension was issued, the player playing in the very next tournament. Ruwen Filus might not be a bad person and he plays some exciting matches. But there should be consequences.

Ruwen Filus could be a good person. But a good person still should face consequences for committing an offense. He should not be allowed to participate in this event. His conduct during the Singapore smash a few days ago needs to be met with consequences. That racket throw with extreme force in the direction of the audience seating area, hitting the barrier separating the audience and the court and narrowing missing a camera worker’s head by a few centimeters is a horrendous act that must have consequences because it went against everything this beautiful sport stands for. That throw is not the kind of throw that we sadly witness a lot in today’s tt, by frustrated players. That extremely violent throw in the direction of a human being could have killed or at least severely injured a person and it almost did! How can this kind of conduct on court not be punished? So far, there has been no punishment of any kind from any ITTF affiliated bodies. A human being’s life and health was under real threat because of that throw. A violent throw with extreme force by a professional tt player after losing a match where the racket directly flies towards the audience area and camera staff is something that M U S T have consequences. I don’t want filus’ career to be destroyed and I also heard today that he is a caring father taking care of a very sick daughter. I, too, feel blessed that there is a great defender like Filus whose matches we enjoy so much. But, there still should be at least a suspension and a fine to show we are not OK with what happened on court that day. I love this sport and the players who keep this sport so exciting to watch, including great defenders like Ruwen Filus. And because we love this sport, we need action to be taken.
