That was an awesome binge watch session. I have just worked my way through all of your RV build videos in a weekend. I loved it. Looking forward to watching more.

My prayers have been answered :) going to oshkosh this year to spend quality time playing with them to push me from 80% Garmin to either 100 or Dynon. If you are there this year would love to say hello

Yup. Happy to chat about our choices and why we went Garmin.

Just curious, why did you need a GAD27? (I'm building a very full panel and didn't need one, between the GEA24 and the VPX I had all I/O covered)

Really excited to see the unboxing of the GTN. My 750 is due to arrive first week in October. Like you said, they’ve been back ordered forever!

It’s at the very end, the chapter markers should help :)

Hello, I am trying to make my 750 fit in my panel. between the middle rib and the no wanting to cut through the bottom of the mid-panel, it becomes a problem. Do you have the dimensions of your panel and 3 D model you can share?
@BuildFlyGo2 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelElstien The RV-10 plans describe where you can cut the mid panel to fit deep avionics, take a peek. As to the middle rib, reach out to vans with what you want to cut and they will tell you if it's ok.

Love to see how you are doing the electrical distribution with VPX. Doing basically same panel in a 14A.

Agree the Garmin back shells are amazing. I've ordered one for a different purpose just because they are so well made. Wish they would sell them separately outside of the connector kits. Agree about using the Garmin (or order TSO'ed) USB outlets are the way to go. If you find them too expensive you can get deals on the double USB-A versions. Might be an outdated standard but you will always be able to find a cheap cable for whatever you plan to connect.

That is going to be one sweet panel setup. I'm hoping to do pretty much the same thing someday. I was kind of surprised that the engine pressure sensors had pigtails versus an integral connector. Integral connectors would allow for a more rugged setup on the harnessing around the engine. Also easier to isolate and replace failed sensors. Perhaps Garmin will consider doing this at some point.
@BuildFlyGo2 жыл бұрын
It’s a Kavlico sensor with a metrapac connector. They just put pigtails in the connector in case you don’t have the proper crimper. I’ll probably buy new pins :)

@@BuildFlyGo Ah, so it does have a connector. Wasn't clear - I should have asked before assuming!

KZbin Tip, Guil... any time you reference a previously posted video, you can put the link in the description (at least) and/or add a card (puts a link in the upper right corner of the video) at the time you mention it. It will help with video ranking. Other than that, I'm glad you posted this one. I'm also going with Garmin. Any need for any of this (besides the LRU's/sensors, etc) during the tail construction (since I'll have to wire the rear light)?
@BuildFlyGo2 жыл бұрын
You don't need any avionics until you start working in on the panel. You can order connector kits around the time of the fuselage completion to get started wiring the long runs but even that really can wait. No need to keep parts on the shelf aging :)

Another quality video. I sent a question in your last video about actuators asking if you added any back plates or washers to the mount on the firewall. Just mounting mine as we speak. It was a follow up to a previous questions it may have got lost in KZbin space. On another note is there a gathering of KZbin bloggers at air venture this year like last?

Sorry, message notifications on yt aren’t great. Let me see if I can find it. Yes on Builder bash! 3-5pm on Thursday at the HBC pavilion!

What was your lead time on those? I'm starting a built soon and wonder if it makes sense to order right away in the current supply chain climate or wait for it to normalize.
@BuildFlyGo2 жыл бұрын
A few months but talk to your dealer to see what the current lead times are.

Great overview Guil. Seems like you’re moving right along. I know with supply chain issues and all this is a tough question but do you have an estimated first engine start and first flight date goal?
@BuildFlyGo2 жыл бұрын
Engine should be here in a couple weeks ;) No idea on when it starts, some time to go still.
