We had so many questions prior to RVing to Alaska. What were the roads really like, would we have any cell phone coverage, will “no reservations” really work, what’s it like to drive for days and days, etc etc.
Before you plan your RV trip to Alaska, watch this video to get all the details and read our blog that includes; route information, fuel log, where we stayed, and how much it all cost.

Some of the comments on the blog requested more information on the costs of the activities, tours and guides. That information was just updated on the blog in addition to our fuel & lodging costs. We also added our favorite places in Alaska and the KYD Best of Alaska list. www.keepyourdaydream.com/alaska-recap/

Oh man, this is definitely on the bucket list! We are from SC, my husband has a stationary job and can not be away longer than two weeks, so we joke if he ever left his job, we should have enough savings that we can take a month or two before he starts a new job!

Thanks for all the great information. I have had an RV in the past. Lost in during my divorce. Now that time has gone by and my feet are starting to get back on the ground. My girlfriend and I are looking forward to purchasing our RV in the spring, if not sooner if we get the right deal. Thanks again for the review.

I visited my daughter in Ketchikan September 18 - October 3rd and it was beautiful. Only about 5 days of rain when I was there over a 2 week period. Ketchikan is only accessible by plane or boat. It's the first city out from Seattle by cruise ship. They have 1 million visitors from May 1 - September 30. It was a ghost town on the days there were no ships in port. The climate is more temperate and its often warmer there than my middle Tennessee home on some winter days.

You folks are awesome, plane and simple! I was electrocuted at work and have been home mending my broken body. Unfortunately my head is pretty messed up. I didnt have a lot to look forward to until my wife and I remembered and decided that we wanted to RV when we retired. Well retirement is going to start very soon, and your KZbin channel and your family has helped me and inspired me to look forward to something again. I have a ways to go to get back to whole again but watching your videos is truly helping! Also they are teaching me what I need to properly prepare ASI have been a backpacker, and never an RVer. BTW- I've spent my entire life trying to get to Alaska... I hope to make it in an RV someday after gaining some valuable experience. Yes I heard you loud and clear teachers. Thank you so very much for sharing your life, you really dont know how you really truly put a spark back into my Heart. It would be so great to meet at a campground someday so I can just thank you in person and hug your neck!

We're also unable to boon dock. Family of 4, 2 teenagers, we fill our tanks during a 3 day, 2 night trip. If we have access to restroom and showers, we can stretch it another day. I was beginning to think it was just us. But, I'm happy to hear you have the same issues. We also home school and work remotely, we NEED internet! I mean, two teens, the drama when we have no internet. lol

While I was visiting Thailand, my friends and I toured with the locals. One of the things we discovered was that if you did not stay in the touristy parts of towns and hotels, and spent more time with the locals trying to learn about them and respecting them and their customs, they would call you a "Traveler" and showed you equal respect and all of the beautiful places, things and customs that most folks did not get to experience. You and your family are truly "Travelers". Thanks again for taking us along... OLT

Well, there are multiple climates to Alaska. Fairbanks gets as much precipitation as eastern Colorado - 11 inches and that includes snowfall melt. When you were near the coastal towns, the rainy weather was because that is their regular fare. Anchorage and the Kenai are the same rainy foggy as Seattle except it is colder ( but not at all colder than Green Bay ). To get fewer rainy days, simply have more travel days out from the coastal rain forests and spend more time in the (sub)arctic deserts around Fairbanks.

Just completed bindge watching your Alaska trip. I retired from the Air Forrce from Anchorage in 1991. My Alaska adventure began at Galena which was a remote tour (could not take family). My family was in Eagle River and I flew into Anchorage on AF business monthly. I have so many great memories of Alaska and your videos highlighted most of them. I had one overwhelming feeling the intire time I was there and that feeling was "being on top of the world." Thank you for sharing your adventures and bringing back so many great memories.

Hello KYD, we have watched every single episode from day one. I truly wish we can just leave all behind and follow you guys around our beautiful country with our rig. I have 7 more years for a young retirement and RVing would be so much more fun for us if we had no worries to rush back to work. With that being said, watching your videos made us add so much more to our USA/Canada/Mexico tour that when we start our trip it is definitely going to take us more then a year on the road. I will be 52yrs old when our trip starts and we are super excited. We would like to say thank you for taking the time away from all your fun and making these amazingly awesome videos that inspire people like us to put together a bucket list trip. Thank you for letting everyone be a part of your family through video and letting us live vicariously through your family on your exploration and adventures. Hope to see you on the road one day, safe travels.❤

Great resource video! I definitely will use it to plan our Alaska trip. Spot on about knowing your rig! Starting with buying the rig you need/want then buying the vehicle to tow it. Having experience with towing, camping, “oh no, surprise” breakdowns & how fix them is needed (i.e. flat tire, knowing how to patch it or carrying an extra rig tire). Thank you making these Alaska (& other destinations) resource videos! Great channel! I’ve enjoyed your journeys & relied on your advice! Where will you go next? Safe travels

Loved your alaskan travels. Brought back so many fond movies. Seeing trish drive alot helped me get the courage up for pulling our camper! Usually the hubby drives everywhere but we went to zion national park over the weekend about 400 miles away and I drove us all the way there!!! It was a bit nerve wracking but I got the feel for it. Now when we move back to Alaska I feel confident to help w all the miles!!!!! We love your videos. Its not a Sunday night without you guys on our TV! ❤

I will say I had no desire to go to Alaska until your Valdez episode. Now I wanna go. Maybe in 2020.

We spent a month in June (2016) in Alaska and basically did the same route you did. It rained every morning, but, turned beautiful the remainder of the day. I thought a month was too short, my kids thought it was too long. So much togetherness! Haha. Anyway, my husband and I plan to return (alone). We will only have ourselves to entertain! Love your videos and can't wait to see what's next!
