From one retired teacher to another, thanks. I have to replace both sliders but had a problem because the bar where the rivet goes, was stuck and wouldn't sliders down. Had to catch the broken part with some vice grips and than tap the grips with a hammer to free that bar from the other bar that covered it. Thanks again.

THANK YOU Sharon! Bought my RV pre-owned. Those 2 tiny set screws you put in last ... were missing & I just couldn't figure out what I had done wrong when the arm piece kept sliding outta that track! I don't believe in paying for ANYTHING to be done unless I am absolutely UNQUALIFIED TO LEARN!

I appreciate your video & would like to add a suggestion. When removing the old rivet, I found it much easier to drill it out from the SIDE instead of drilling through the top/head of the rivet. That way you don't damage the hole in the awning arm or make it bigger. Just drill it in half and pull out the 2 pieces from the holes the rivet was installed through.

We don't leave it out often, and after that episode we leave the awning out rarely when we're not at the campsite.

@@TwoTiredTeachers A few years ago our awning was out and there was a little breeze but nothing to be concerned about. Then a huge gust came up, we were right there and began to put the awning away. Within seconds the awning ripped away from the roof of the trailer and it was all over. So I'm a bit hypersensitive to wind and my "new" awning. I've found that if we have mild winds & the direction is right, I can leave the awning out about 4-5 feet (while we are there) and there's no danger. But I don't have the courage to leave my awning out while I leave my campsite after the experience of it ripping off while we were holding it. Really enjoy your videos!

I put it on the garage floor (where I was drilling) but I pulled the awning arm back into the garage so that the rivet was on the higher part & the part of the slider that goes into the grove was outside the garage. Then put the flat side of the rivet down, against the garage floor & hit the open side with a hammer a couple of times. Hope that is clear. Thanks for watching,

I talked with Sharon. We do not have a video on how to replace the lift handle. Our how to/repair videos are shot based on the problems we have with our RV. Thankfully, we haven't had that problem yet. If you live near a camping world, they could probably talk you through the repair. Good luck with your repair.
