RV Awning Head Pin Replacement

Like Karina's father said in our previous video, "Mystery Solved!" Now that we know that it wasn't only just the awning motor that went out, but the head pin was overly worn and and slipping inside the gear drive, we can finally fix this thing and move on to the next problem! Yup! Our problem seemed to come out of nowhere when our camper was still practically brand new!

Do you remember how you guys got that clip off of the drive pin? It’s proving to be a huge pain for me. Thanks

I can tell you I clearly remember it being difficult as well. If memory serves, I believe I used a combination of a small flathead screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers to keep even pressure on both sides, and slowly popped it off. Those C clips are hard to control! Good luck, and I hope that helps!

We’re you able to reuse the other clip and bushing from the original damaged pin? They’re saying you need to order 2 new clips and a new bushing for the new replacement pin.

Hi Ryan! We reused one of the clips and used a new clip. We used the same bushing. The only worn component was the head pin. Thanks for the question and good luck in your project!

I got years ago a magnet 🧲 that's rolls around picks up old nails and dropped parts. I'll send pic.
