It's easier to get shark bite fittings to slide onto the PEX under the sink.. 2 minute job. Cut off the cheap plastic fittings and replace with metal sharkbites.

Dear Runaway Roses....I will check again but am needing videos of plumbing...Before I saw this video, I went to one of the big box stores...He didn't have a clue what I would need...and wasn't interested. Went to Locke's they weren't either. Came home, saw this, went to Home Depot & purchased what I needed. Went to local rv supply...they had nothing & refused (I guess) to tell me what I needed. Word!!!@

You could also just cut the old fittings off and go with shark bite fittings to adapt to the smaller 3/8. I added a shut off to my toilet with the shark bite

Great idea. I need to replace the faucet on my camper. I'm not a plumber but i know a little about threads. The description on the package said MIP. That stands for Male Iron Pipe. PIpe threads are tapered and require the opposite fit to make them properly seal. So tapered male pipe threads are used with female tapered pipe thread fittings. I don't know what the thread size is on the pex pipe fittings but I'm pretty sure that they're not tapered pipe threads.

Thanks! We have a new RV and I've already targeted both plastic faucets and also the shower assembly for replacement. I am not a big fan of plastic fittings, so I'm leaning toward cutting the PEX and crimping a nice brass fitting in place instead. I haven't been under the sink yet though, so maybe I'll go this route. Another person already commented about it, but I also wonder about 2-4 wraps of plumbers tape? I really like that stuff.

GREAT video & sound..(which most have poor sound) very clear and helpful ! I need help with my lines: Each line comes from the tank..to a pipe coming up from the floor to the faucet..the cold, on the other hand goes to the side of the pipe coming up from the floor..then pipe goes up to the faucet......seems I need to know where to connect the new lines to . The 1/2" lines will connect to the lines coming from the tank..but I would be bypassing the lines coming from the floor ??? Would it be okay to "cap off " the lines coming from the floor?? HELP !!

Yes on the MIP side, no on the compression side, tape or dope can negatively affect the connection. MIP seals at the threads, the compression side threads just pull the seal together.
@JasmynOfwgkta3 жыл бұрын
so i notice the new sink has 4 hoses while the old sink only seemingly had 2, what did you end up connecting them to? or did you not need to connect them?
