You sweet, sweet Floridians. That’s simply one chicago winter’s worth of rust on those jacks! Lol I wish I could show you under my car lol.

Those jacks just needed some regular maintenance. Keep them lubricated and painted. The new ones will get to looking just like the old ones.

I’m not concerned about the paint. I wanted an upgraded jack that’s stronger and more rigid with added hight. The stock units are light duty. This is an upgrade. And btw I Lube the jacks regularly.

I use fluid film to keep the jacks looking good and quiet.

Hey buddy, just a suggestion but if you’ll turn your blocks at a 45 under the jacks, the pad on the jacks will land on those circle pads on the blocks and be a lot more stable.

Adam, consider adding BAL Lock-Arm Stabilizers too, I added 4 sets (overkill) to our TT and it makes a significant difference.
@AbomAdventures

I have but wanted to wait until I’ve added my other accessories first. I might have room for those on the front side but not the back.

@@AbomAdventures Way to do it on the rear would be to turn your stabilzer jack 45 degrees (Freedom Express and others do this) then you can attach the BAL Lock-Arms to the hitch you fabricated a few years back, and just do 1 set on the rears 👍

At the lead screw nut, there's a thrust bearing. Shoot some lithium spray grease in there to keep them from rusting up.

I believe that they will rust again in 1-2 years. They are exposed to dirt and all kinds of weather, road salt and more. It would be a clever idea to cover them with some type of soft or hard cover. Hard box of two parts, the top and bottom, so when the jack is closed the box is closed too. Or some fabric, like Cordura-1000. Love your channels, been watching since 2014.

I’m not concerned about the paint. My main concern was to upgrade to a larger more heavy duty jack, that’s why I replaced them. I quick shot of spray paint can easily make them look nice again once the paint starts to fade away.

If you find you still dont have enough height, you can always add an extra piece of RHS tube on that top mounts.

Adam enjoy the channel. When you raised Jack all the way up and shook the jack looked as though had a lot of movement. I was thinking of some type of bracket with a rubber stop. This would allow the top part of jack to compress against the rubber piece to reduce movement when in the up position. Just a thought, again enjoy.
@AbomAdventures
@AbomAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
That’s not necessary. I didn’t retract the jacks all the way up in the video. You can crank them in and they tighten up. Trust me, these are much more stable than the original units. The stock jacks would shake all over the place and not made to stay square.

The factory jacks look about as light as the jack that came with my 2005 Honda Civic. Bigger than the car jack, but as light a build.

get you some fluid film to help with the rusting

when they are fully in the retracted position, do they stick out past the body of the camper? Hard to tell from the video.

Mine are welded to the frame and definitely time to replace mine. I wonder if the harbor freight ones are any good. We usually use the hand crank so we don't bother other campers with the impact.

@@AbomAdventures fluid film will prevent rust even with crap caked into it. Just adds flavor! Lol but seriously, fluid film, even though it gets gunky and I know Adam hates that, is by far the greatest rust prevention and lubrication combo yet divided by humans!
