That material is available at Lowes and Home Depot too. I used it to line my garage doors and it made a 30° difference. It works great.

Growing up we always had window A/C units and my mom would sew up insulated quilts to cover the windows around them. They were never anything all that fancy, but they helped a ton, and were nice to look at. Combining the two approaches might really be effective.

a tip for you Adam, look in to those collapsible bowls and strainer and containers. I use them all the time in the caravan. They do not take much space at all, and i only need 1 small cabinet to store all of the needs you migt have.

So true about the heat factor and windows. Also, the window frames are aluminum which radiates a lot of heat from the direct sun. Some camper manufacturers offer dual pane windows however the extra cost is rather high. Would be nice if they would just put them in as standard equipment since most travelers are in all kinds of weather at some point often than not. At least with that idea, folks can get some light inside without having to turn on the lights during the day. It's never ending...the process of being efficient with your rig and gear ! Thanks Adam

Nicely Done Adam. It’s really the IR radiation that you are reflecting as far as heat. UV too but that isn’t making you hot as much as sunburned. :) stay cool 😎

I'm a big fan of the mylar bubble wrap stuff, Reflectix is the brand I see. Home improvement stores also carry the bulk rolls. If you ever only need a small piece, get the windshield sun shades on clearance at walmart in October/November for just a couple bucks.

Love you guys, but less paper plates more reusables are better for everybody. Even if a little washing is involved. Not saying there are not times when single-use is the way to go, but you are mostly in fully hooked-up camp grounds. Keep America and the world beautiful!

We are slowly removing things we don't use from our camper too. Like Abby stated , we want to be prepared but mostly don't use the stuff. It is best to reduce the camper weight as much as possible for safer handling and less strain on truck and camper when towing. All the weight of the little stuff does add up .

I feel you on the weather.. I'm up in SC and yesterday it was around 100 degrees with what felt like about 300% humidity. On top of that my genius neighbor decided to do a huge trash burn and threw all kinds of plastic stuff on the pile. So, hellishly hot and swampy with a dash of thick noxious smoke rolling in to top it all off... PARADISE!!

I’m not mounting it outside, that makes no sense at all. Talk about ugly! You’d be taking it down each time you pull. Inside works fine and you don’t have to move it until you’re ready.

Those command strips will do damage to surfaces with a vinyl/plastic wood grain veneer. Not right away, but they'll dry out after a year or two and pull the veneer off when you go to remove them. Ask me how I know : )

You might label each piece of material with which window it fits. After taking them down and storing them, it will be a pain figuring out which one fits which window. Just a suggestion, not a criticism.
@KJ6EAD3 жыл бұрын
That's what I was going to say. Standardize the location of the label, lower left for example so it's just that little bit easier to know not only which goes where but also in what orientation. Visitors will laugh and ask why you label your windows as if you don't know what room you're in without help.
@francisschweitzer84313 жыл бұрын
Adam… sunshades…. Great idea. The Command Velcro…. Not so good. The heat will unstick them. I tried the same thing on my Peterbilt windshield and they melted off.

Great! The shades will make you feel more comfortable in hot climates, and they will also reduce the energy needed for the AC. Please try using less single-use plastic and paper, it's so much waste...
