I find the cooling mats very useful - not only for my dog! My dog doesn't like travelling in a car or RV - he's absolutely fine it the RV once we have stopped and camp up....it was quite distressing to see him just panting and being very 'uncomfortable'. I used his Thundershirt (once I remembered I had one!) and then I discovered CBD treats for dogs which I give him at least an hour before we set off (especially if it is a longer journey) and that has been brilliant! Highly recommend those. It just 'relaxes him (and me!)

Hi Amber...great video and tips for our dogs and pets. My dog, Kia is a rescue dog, weighs 7 lbs and the most picky eater. She just made 16 yo. I got her in 2012 when I moved back to Hawaii from CA when I retired from my job of 30 years. Lily looks like Kia’s best friend Sachi. Thanks for sharing all your doggie tips I really enjoyed your video again. Stay safe and best wishes to a lucky dog who wins the prize. With C19, Kia and I don’t travel much in the car so no need for this prize.....not like you vanlifers...LOL. Take care Amber. I will post a pic of my dog on hash tag site so you can see what she looks like.

Great video Amber! Really thorough. The blue algae bloom, the Canary camera with wifi etc -- a few things I had not though of. My Lily is 32 lbs so she is medium in size. I have always wondered how large your Lily is. She is pretty small and so adorable. My Lily hates the car and has anxiety with travel so we are working on it. She will not sit on the front seat when we travel like your Lily. She wants to hunker down in her bed behind the passenger seat on the floor. I should try that seat belt since it looks like it extends to the back seat clips. I don't have an RV yet, but I know I need a larger one to give her space and your topics are all things I think about. Lily's comfort and safety solutions are all things I need solutions for before I go on the road. Thanks again for this video! #RVLivingDogs

Great job on your video on #RVLivingDogs ! (when I save the # it disappears...???).It was very comprehensive and I enjoyed it being I'm an animal lover and "mom". I have 1 dog that I rescued and 2 horses. I've traveled with my pets for leisure and work, but that's another story. I have both my dog and horses microchipped for safety in case of an emergency and if they're stolen. I really appreciated your coverage of water-borne disease because lakes and streams may be fatal to our pets. My vet recommended a rattlesnake vaccine for any dog that is at risk. The vaccine buys you some time to get to a vet and can save their lives. I was a bloodhound handler and have experienced rattlesnake bites to my hounds so I speak from first-hand experience. All the best to you and Lily. She's so fortunate to have a "mom" like you!

Great information, I camp at local state parks and typically bring several dogs, I saw another family set up a yard of sorts for their dogs so I decided to make my own so I bought several 48" xpens and a 24" (for next to trailer) a guy from work made me stands/support/uprights and now I set up a yard for the dogs, I have a deaf dog so it works great for him he's young and active and when I have to tie him out (during set/break down) he just gets tangled so the yard is less stress for me so definitely worth the time plus the dogs love it, it gives them some freedom but still keeps them safe.
@storychasing4 жыл бұрын
Alicia L Thanks so much! ☺️ Thats such a great idea and glad you have adopted a deaf dog and continue caring for it. That may sound weird, but some would just give it up or drop off some where which is so cruel.
@alicial60724 жыл бұрын
@@storychasing It's a Dalmatian and the Dalmatian club of America requires it's AKC breeders to euthanize the deaf pups but our rescue is Dalmatian and deaf dog rescue, we've had boxers, bull dogs, sheep dogs, we require the dogs to be neutered/spayed at 6 months so there is no way they will pass on the handicap but deaf dogs are great dogs you just need to figure out how to communicate with them and you need to keep them on lead all time because theirs no recall, right now I have him training for K9 nosework.

I have 6 female Shih Tzus. My biggest problem is finding places to camp with them. I use portable metal fencing at campsites or they are on leashes and/or in a pet stroller/trailer which can be pulled by my vintage bicycle. I have taken them in my car and motorhome from the beginning. They are all good travelers. I am not full-time. They are my priority, camping/traveling or at home.
@lolasaxby13994 жыл бұрын
#RVLivingdogs Great info! Thanks for the education One thing you didn't mention is to not let your dog drink salt water. There are some dog friendly beaches here in Florida and they don't normally drink salt water but if not enough fresh water is available OR if they are playing fetch with a stick, ball or toy, they can get more than is tolerable of salt ingestion - this can lead to rapid onset of seizures and a quick death.

I travel and camp with my dogs in Colorado. The only time I can leave them in the car to go into a store, etc. is when it’s dark outside, meaning it’s raining or night. Even in the winter it is too sunny and will quickly overheat a car. Traveling with my dogs means I can’t do many of the things travelers without pets do, but that is the choice I’ve made. No gift shops, museums, galleries, restaurants or other attractions. Mostly we hike.

It’s very alarming that so many of the products that are being sold for car safety for pets flat out don’t work. This is due to the fact that the industry is unregulated. Please help combat this by only buying products that can show they have been crash tested. Over 90% of what is being sold experiences alarming failures during crash simulations. I have bought travel bed carriers from Sleepypod for mine. I can’t say enough good things about them. I was extremely impressed with the quality and build of them when I got mine. They didn’t build vintage Samsonite that well.
