We have the bed frame made by a local welder and then put 1x10 wood boards across the frame for matress support. 2 years later its still holding strong and we have had no issues!

Hey, we didn’t do a post on it as I didn’t think we would get so many questions on it! We had it made by a welding company and the put the 1x12s over it. We copied the size off the original wood frame. Feel free to email us if you have more questions

Can you explain more about how you modified the happi jack system? Did you remove the top bed platform and use the couch rails?
@WhereWildOnesRoam4 жыл бұрын
The only modification was replacing the bed frame and mattress. We removed the couches, then we removed the limiter to allow the bed to go lower then replaced the cheap wood frame with a metal from from a custom welding shop. Was about $300.

Really love your work here. In fact, you guys inspired us so much that we took the plunge and bought our toy hauler this weekend. Would it be possible to see videos of simple things like how you hang shelves on your walls? We just have no clue and haven't really seen any videos explaining how to hang things that might be a bit heavier on rv walls. Keep the videos coming!

I want a video on how you did the lights under the bed! Are they wired?? Are they battery powered? With it going up and down if it is wired how does that work? Curious! Love how you've done that though and I want to be a copycat one day haha.

They are wired. Runs up the side with slack so the platform can move. We have gotten so many questions we are going to post a video about it. :)

Very cool setup you have! I will be traveling for work with 6-10 month stays and have been looking into full timing a toy hauler like this. Amazed that you pack a full family with pets in and still keep it looking comfortable. I'm slowly being swayed towards doing this rather than renting an apartment. Keep up the cool projects!

Absolutely beautiful!!! I do have a question: does the bed have to go all the way down or can you stop it where you want it? I’ve seen those beds lowered and they seem to go down much further down. This video has confirmed my desire for a toy hauler. I’ve wanted one for 10 years. I bought a class a, but now I follow my heart. Thank you!!
@WhereWildOnesRoam3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The switch that controls our bed allows for movement in both directions, so we drop it down to desired height and then raise it back up when not in use. The bed can go down further depending on what’s underneath. We have really loved our toyhauler with it’s versatility!

My husband and I live full time in a Fuzion 424 and are dying to use this idea. I work for a sheet metal company, so we have the capability to fabricate a metal frame, but would you be willing to share dimensions of the type of box tubing you used? And the size planks of wood?
@WhereWildOnesRoam4 жыл бұрын
Hey! The metal is 2x2 framing painted black. We used the original rail mounting and used self taping screws to attach. The wood is 1x12s. But you can use thinner ones if you want more planks. Those are cut to the width of the bed. The frame width is the size of the mounting pieces and length is the space between them across the room. Been working great. 5 stars. Would recommend. 😄

Hows the heating/cooling been back there vs. the original front bedroom?
@WhereWildOnesRoam4 жыл бұрын
There is a dedicated ac in the garage that is a ice maker. One heat vent is run back there. Not quite enough, but we run mostly electric heat anyways. A space heater does a great job. (Was in 9 degrees and we stayed warm!)

What's the name of the bed frame kit you installed?
@WhereWildOnesRoam4 жыл бұрын
The entire bed lift system is called the Happijack system - it came stock with the rig. We then got a custom metal frame built to hold the bed that replaced the original wood frame - it’s the same dimensions as the original frame.
