Have you ever been to Traverse City, Michigan? When we told some friends about our plans to travel to the Upper Peninsula to see the fall colors, they said we couldn't miss Traverse City! Im Australian not far from Machinac Island was there back in 2002 Northern Michigan was awesome grand Haven, Leland how beautiful is Leland that was special it was amazing and a big cheer to Benton Harbor that was bkoody beautiful.

Rachael, what an amazing place to get engaged! The Mission Point Lighthouse is so magical. There's something so special about the vibes of the place. We were sad it wasn't open when we visited, but just another great reason to come back. You're going to love our next couple of videos though. Kurt, there were so many cool local places to explore here. We could have easily spent a week here, and probably will eventually. As for the sand, gosh - isn't that the truth. Our poor truck still hasn't recovered from the amount of sand we collected as we explored Northern Michigan. 🤣

Your video makes me miss Traverse City. TC is my favorite place to visit and captured my heart many years ago. I can't explain the reason or why. But it makes me look forward to my next visit there next summer. P.S. Chateau Chantal has an interesting history. The couple that started the winery, Mr. and Mrs Begin were a former Catholic priest and nun (respectively). They met and married. Started the winery with cherry trees originally. Then it grew to what you see today. The winery is named after their daughter, Marie-Chantal. She nows helps run the place. Her mother has passed but her dad just had his birthday. He is now 87 years I think. The views from the winery is spectular.

Welcome to my adopted home town. Moved there in the mid 50s...1950s. A wonderful place to grow up. Traverse has actually declined in population, but the three county region is tripled in size. Glad you enjoyed it!

So glad you guys came to experience TC! And no, the dunes are not always that windy, lol. The dune climb makes for a thrilling sledding spot in the winter. Can’t wait to see your UP adventures!

Going down the dune in the winter on the snowboards is always a good time, also little and big glen Will sometimes freeze 3 inches perfectly clear like they did last year. A lot of fun walking into the middle and looking down. At Peirce stocking we used to go up on our motorcycles and put them in neutral at a certain point, then see how far you can get without power. I can make it almost to the exit. The area is Full of cool Geographic oddities and stuff like deep in the woods in port onidea there is a giant bolder that didn’t get crushed by the glaciers. Also next time you come through try eating at arts in glen arbor or cheese shanty in leeland. M22 is my commute everyday so in some days I will literally drive all of it to go from home, to work, to Tc. Quite the drive and it’s just as pretty in the winter.

What a wonderful video! Great job! We live only 2 hours west of Traverse City (and about an hour east of Alpena), so we've been there a lot for shopping at the mall and for concerts when there used to a venue there, but we need to spend more time downtown. Everything looks great! I haven't been to Sleeping Bear Dunes since I was a little kid and I don't know if my husband Don has been at all, but that's on our list to go to soon. We just spent Sunday in the UP with my mom for our annual fall leaf-looking-at trip (lol) and we stopped at Kitch-iti-kipi Springs. We've been there before, but it's the most amazing thing I've ever seen and always worth more visits! Then we went to the Fayette Historic State Park, which we have never been to before. It's absolutely beautiful there! After seeing it in Jessica's video I wanted to see it for myself. I love that big hotel! I'm looking forward to your UP videos to see how you liked those two places. I know Jessica and Jaimie liked them!

Douglas, that's a good question! Yes, we both work. We own an advertising agency and manage it from the road. Our adventure videos are typically on the weekends, while we work through the week.

That’s never been my experience in Traverse City. I’ve lived in Michigan my entire life and we are always inviting folks in to see our magnificent and beautiful state.

@@VintageInsightPhotography yeah traverse is pretty welcoming as far as tourist areas go., but I'm sure to some extent the added traffic during the high season and even the added year round metro area population might be a bit hard to live with for a generational local family that remembers the area from the 70's when it was more of a sleepy little area..

So sorry that you may have had a bad experience in TC. There are alot of people that trive on the tourist trade here in Traverse City and wouldn't be doing it if they didn;t like tourists. I'm sure you could go to the mountains and find someone that doesn't like mountains, But that wouldn't mean that everyone there didn't like them.
