Just found your channel. I gotta say, WAY TO GO!👍🏼. You're honest and humorous at the same time. However, my biggest reason right now for commenting is, I'm a 35 year veteran of driving semi trucks. Your consideration to let the truck drivers of the country have a place to park at "truck stops" is to be acknowledged with a huge THANK YOU! I have no problem if you can't stay awake, have gotten ill, had a breakdown issue or any other viable reason to have to use the truck stop to park. But you knowing that trying to be considerate to truck drivers is the right thing to do now has me subscribing with notifications. Soon to retire to become full time RV. You two are so good that even old farts can appreciate both of you. Goodness and safe travels to you both always.

Wow, thank you for taking the time out of your day Roy to write this awesome comment, because you just absolutely made ours 😊Thank you for all that you do with driving semi-trucks, that is a demanding job. We are really happy to hear that you are almost able to retire and live a life of full time RV! You are going to have so many adventures to look forward to 🙂🙌🏼 We are old farts at heart...so yeah we get along with the older crowd. Is that considered an "old soul"? If it is..yeah the Hanks are a bunch of old souls! lol Do you know what kind of RV that you want to get upon your retirement?

We're Steve and Susan, newly retired and new owners of a Coachmen Nova class B! We do the "200 mile's or less a day". Gives us time to stop and smell the roses, walk through town, get a cup of coffee, check out the bakery or diner, take in a museum, hike a trail, hit a quilt or yarn store or just sit and enjoy the campsite. We like to take it slow and easy. Thanks for the navigation route tips!

Hello you two. We love your site. We are learning so much from you. I am John and my wife is Lora and we live in Virginia. About a year ago we bought a older popup camper to see if we would like RVing. A year later we are on our third camper. We gave our popup to our daughter and bought a new 22' Wildwood and took it out three times. We are hooked...we traded in it for a 35' Jayco White Hawk. When I retire at the end of next year...we are hitting the road

Hey Hanks, great video! I'll have to say; those going through driver school should watch this video. I've been driving professionally for 26 years, and you nailed it PERFECTLY; "Size matters 😉". There are so many that have absolutely no clue on the clearance of bridges, trees, power lines. Renee, you said it best; looking at bridge clearance must be 2nd nature. Also, know how high your rig is and always remember to lower the TV antenna; it's amazing how much damage is created when those hit a low clearance. Additionally, make it a common practice to look for "No Trucks" signs on roads or streets. There's a reason their there, and just because you may not be in a "semi" doesn't mean you belong there. (Ie.) I watched a $400k motorhome go down a street with a "no trucks" sign and caught their rig on a low power line, and ripped their front A/C right off the rig; easily causing $30k in damage and a tow bill....
@HappilyEverHanks3 жыл бұрын
Oh man we are currently driving and always worry about the power lines, anytime we see the no truck sign on a road, we avoid it, no questions asked. So question for you then, anytime a road has low clearance (bridges, powerlines, branches) do they have to have one of those no truck signs?

Great to meet the Hanks. Love the videos. My wife and I are empty nest'ers, but we only RV on the weekend and for small trips. We bought a Class A in 2019, but now the wife wants a 5th wheel (From watching you two). We live in Wisconsin and this year decided to take a mini trip up north, as we were driving we ran into a winter storm, white out conditions (A late April storm). We made it though by getting off at the next exit (2miles at 35mph), only to find blue skies. We found out afterwards that US41 was shut down because an 48 car pileup. Makes for the "No kidding, there I was" moments. Sometimes weather can sneak up without warning. They called for isolated snow, but not on our route so we thought. Best thing to remember is, you can always pull over and have the comfort of home right there.

Fly your birds??? Hilarious... Kyle ever considered getting a larger aftermarket diesel fuel tank? Always wondered if it would add any benefit. I believe S&B and Titan( 52 gallons) make them for the Ram Trucks. I priced them out and they are about $1800 installed. Whoa We pick up our TT next Friday!! i think i will evaluate after a year if a larger fuel tank would have been helpful for us. We will only be weekend campers. Thanks for the video you two!

Hey Hector!! YES! Would love to get a large diesel fuel tank. I feel like that would be such a great upgrade with not having to stop at gas stations as much. Love you guys videos! They’re so informative and helpful! I’ve downloaded like every app you guys have mentioned! Do you have wifi in your truck so you always have Internet? Also do you use an iPad or something while you’re the navigator?? Because being the navigator will be my job once me and my hubby hit the road next year after he retires. I want to be prepared with everything I may need so we can make our travels less stressful and avoid the arguments! Lol Thank you for your videos! Keep them coming! Maybe you can even do a video of how you’re set up in your truck when you’re now on the road?? Hint hint… 😊

Thank you Lindsey!! We appreciate your wonderful support 😃We hope that the apps treat you well! They definitely have taken care of us We use our cell phones only, so when we run out of signal...we kinda have to roll with it and come up with another game plan. We have been considering buying different hotspots from separate carriers. Having hotspots from other carriers could be nice because they might have signal in those areas compared to our main cell phone provider not. It's definitely a continual learning process as we go. We keep our ears open for other options, but have faired out well with this so far! Renee uses an old macbook laptop for navigation. We are so happy for you both!! @@refugiovillalobos5281 You can apply for the TSD fuel card anytime! Just know Refugio, that the TSD fuel card is only for diesel trucks. Gas is excluded and does not qualify. The TSD is basically the same thing that truckers use on the road at truck stops. You are able to save money by paying a "bulk pricing" on the diesel or something to that nature 🙂

Reservations?? What is a Reservation...LOL. Ok, we do occasionally make a reservation. We made one when we stayed outside of Big Bend N.P., and we had one for a week outside of Houston, (that we cancelled when the crazy winter storm hit Texas). So far thats been it this year. We pretty much fly by the seat of our pants. What drives me crazy is all the videos saying its impossible to find a place to stay. This certainly has not been our experience. I would highly recommend a RV/Trucker GPS. They do give peace of mind, until those few instances where they send you down a road that it should not have....LOL see my last video where our GPS sent us through downtown Austin... then you want to throw the damn thing out the window. Hey you didn't mention KZbin!! We will search the area in KZbin to see what previous Tubers had said about an area. Those videos often include video of getting into an area. Great information for those that are anxious to be out on the road. Safe travels you two!!!

Terrific information. We went to Yellowstone in January, no crowds, just bison on the x-c ski trails. That'll get your heart racing. I don't pay for apps. I use the main stream apps like Campendium, NPS, recreation.gov, etc. There are plenty of basic function apps out there. There is no need to pay. National parks, Corp of Engineers, State parks, and BLM are my top choice; private campgrounds are my last. My driving distance is 250-330 miles (depending where) to arrive by 3pm and still have time to look for alternate site before twilight.

Another reason there are so many cancellations is that some greedy people make way more reservations than they ever plan on using. So they reserve every Friday and Saturday in the season and take a minor penalty for a canceled reservation to have whatever weekend they want. Greedy bastards. Thats why reserveamerica and reservatons.gov limit how far in advance you can make a reservation and are starting to charge a higher penalty for cancelling. NM had half their sites as first come, first served until covid. Now online reservations seem universal. I think cancelations should be non-refundable and if you aint there by 2PM you forfeit the spot. I've seen many campgrounds in KS and IA where big rigs occupy a site for days and nobody ever comes or goes. Thus new rules at some campsites "You must be present at your campsite every day." I have not heard of any rigs being towed if people didn't use the site. I've seen this most often at COE campgrounds.
@HappilyEverHanks3 жыл бұрын
Hey Butch! Yes, could not agree more with this! Soooo many people book earlier and earlier and then end up cancelling as the time draws closer. I am glad to hear that the reservations site is cracking down on how early you can make reservations. Want to make it fair for everyone, too many times people are left stranded without any chance of reservations. Thank you so much for the awesome feedback Butch! Hope we hear from you again soon!! I was actually using RV Trip Wizard when I started your video. I've used it to schedule multiple trips over the past several months and I really like it. It has all the filters you would use to find campgrounds as well as a driving radius layer that you can set to hours or miles depending on how you travel.This allows you to do some more in-depth searches along your route. Another feature that I really appreciate is the fuel range that takes your RV fuel tank size and average MPG to give you low fuel warnings as you plan your trip so you can identify the closest fuel station that you prefer. The GPS feature is pretty helpful as well. Once you put in your rig information, it will provide you the best routes avoiding narrow roads, overpasses, small bridges or tight turns depending on your preferences. All in all it is a great app and I primarily use it to plan on the laptop, but use the app to pull up the trip and use the GPS. It may not work for all, but it works for us. I really enjoy your videos and appreciate the thoughtful content. We tend to plan longer drive days (8-9 hours) on the front end of our trip and roll it back to a max of 6 hours for any additional legs or the return trip.
