I always always fly with garuda whenever i weny abroad. The reasons? 1. National pride, to disembark from the flag carrier of my own nation is a pride by itself. It feels like I'm representing indonesia fully (i know it sounds stupid but whatever) 2. I want to help garuda through their hardship. Since covid strike, garuda experienced major financial hardship and losses. I wanna help them, i don't want my nation flag carrier to go bankrupt. So those are my reasons tl fly with garuda, as an Indonesian myself i am proud with garuda.

This is probably the best option for SIN-CGK (or vice versa) route, especially if you get the A330-900.

I do the SIN-CGK route quite a bit and really enjoy the GA inflight service. You are right that the crew are very good - friendly, attentive, and you can feel their genuine hospitality. I love their uniform as well. It is a pity that GA has been so badly managed over the years. Passengers seem to avoid them. On this same route, SQ flights are always departing full, while GA flights are rather empty.

Thank you for watching! I have always enjoyed flying Garuda but you are right about the load factors not being full.. I flew the same aircraft home the next day and the flight was less than 70% full.

I avoid Garuda because sometimes their pricing does not make sense. If there is another airline with newer aircraft for the same price or minimal difference, BYE. This A330 neo flight is the exception - usually it's served by 737 NGs. SQ 777, A350 vs older Garuda 737? It's just not a fair fight. IF the hard product is a fair fight, Garuda wins - yes even vs Singapore Airlines, which I think has a rushed service in economy...with flight attendants almost running down the alley).

​@oumaniac I agree with you that compared to SQ, GA's hard product on their 777s, 737NG and A333s can't compete. From where I am based, GA is always the cheaper option (by quite a fair bit). What GA lacks in hardware, they trump SQ in service and meals (yes it's only an economy class meal), but they serve a full meal on the 1hr+ sector compared to SQ's light hot refreshment. To me, it's just a 1h+ flight, I don't have time to enjoy a full movie anyway so IFE isn't important to me. A full meal, and a relatively empty cabin usually helps me pass the time faster and more comfortably 😊

Yes....I flew Garuda from Jakarta to Denpasar, and back. Rough turbulence for both ways, but worst when landing in Jakarta. If I recall the service on board was very good. If I do go back to Bali, from Jakarta, I think it will still be by Garuda 😊

I must say the 330neos, along with their last 4 A330s and ex-Oman 737s are the best fleet of GA as finally they stepped out from using that all-too-common and too-thick B/E (Collins) Spectrum seats which I believe does not scream GA very well. Btw, it seems like you have the same issue as me - always got assumed as an Indonesian/Indonesian speaker. Got the same treatment in JX (they thought I was a Taiwanese), but luckily I can speak Chinese 😂
