This Abaqus Plug-in creates two dimensional (2D) representative volume element (RVE) of circular inclusions or fibers in a rectangular matrix. The plug-in is best suited for 2D meso scale modeling of unidirectional composites, concrete, metal matrix composite, and particle reinforced polymers with high or low volume fraction.
Plug-in considers all possible options for easy modeling of the RVE:
1. The code uses combination of three particle placement algorithms to produce high volume fraction even more than 80% in few second. Algorithms are: Random Sequential Absorption (RSA), Random Around Particle (RAP), Molecular Dynamic (MD).
2. Circles have different dimensions and orientations. User can input his desired range.
3. The code checks intersection between circles with a specified tolerance of user. Therefore, meshing is easier.
4. The code creates circles in opposite side of the RVE in the case that a circle intersects the boundary based on user demand.
5. Material properties and orientations are assigned to each fiber separately. User can easily change the material.
6. For meshing and applying periodic boundary condition (PBC) please use the EngSoft_PBC2D_V1 plug-in after creating the RVE.
