I spent summers as a kid caravanning with other families around the country and camping with those same families around Minnesota, those are some of my best childhood memories, we had a travel trailer and three families had tent trailers then there were a couple cars with tents. My mom would plan out the trips we got to 44 states by the time I was 10.

I think traveling in a group is a great way to travel. It’s fun being in a group, and when you want alone time, you take it. The only downside is when you want to take a detour, or even stop along your route to see something and nobody else wants to stop. If you want to go to Mexico, but not travel alone, there are tour groups that caravan in Baja and you just sign up and go with a group. I followed a KZbin family that did it and there were 21 RV’s in the group. Everyone gets together a few times prior to the trip, agrees where they want to go and see, and the tour folks sets everything up for the group. They take care of reservations, everything. They travel at the front of the caravan in their own RV and have been there many times and speak Spanish, so you always know what to expect. At least that’s what I saw with the group I followed. You also have the option on the size of the caravan you want to travel with.

Reminds me of the 4 Amigos getting their families together for a beach camping trip to Ensenada - kids enjoyed it; mom did not like “no bath” sand expense in a tent which was Camp Central. Memorable Trio despite many of the kids having crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Treasure these days.

Happy belated Birthday Marissa. I've lived in Tucson AZ for 55 years and you have NOT seen saguaro cactus till you come here. We have the Saguaro National Forest East and West. The west side also has Gates Pass with the most spectacular view. The Ironwood National Forest is here too with beautiful cactus to. We have trails for hiking all over. Don't miss Tucson. We always had a caravan of campers when our kids were small. We had the best times and so many memories as some of our fellow campers have now passed away. We are the,only ones still camping so now we camp with our grown kids. Making new memories. Better than going alone. We have upped our game though, we now have a class A motorhome.

Budget expectations. We did one family trip with multiple RV’s and my one Uncle and Aunt had a much higher budget than we had and that caused some tension.
