RVing to Alaska

7 жыл бұрын

Today we continue our push northwards and leave the Icefields behind and discover the Eastside of Jasper National Park on our way to Dawson Creek. We find ourselves a nice campsite at the Pocahontas Campground just a few miles from the Miette Hot Springs. We take advantage of being so close to the springs and go for a soak. Along the road we run into 5 bear as well as some very friendly sheep along the way. (Season 2 Episode 7)

One of your best videos yet!! Hands down!! Love the bear footage and how both of you just couldn't contain yourselves and had to scream after the mommy and baby bear walked past you! My gal and I would have done the exact same thing! Awesome!! You keep saying this trip is going to be epic... I agree! Keep the great videos coming!

this is a trip down memory lane for me. In 2001 we did the Alaska highway in our brand new class A. Have been in the Miette Hot Springs a few times, most recently in 2010. Loving your videos. Going to be in Banff area this summer in our truck and airstream.

Very nice. We kind of skipped over Banff because it is a day drive from our home town. We have all the time in the world to explore that area and do it justice.

That was fun! Love watching the bears. The hot spring looked nice but I would only stay in the 104*. I won't get in our pool, other than dangling my feet until it's 85 - 90*. LOL

Okay, I am going to go back and start from the beginning of your Alaska adventures. (And subscribe, of course) The BEARS!! SOOOO cool! About how far did you guys drive each day?
@RVingtoAlaska
@RVingtoAlaska 7 жыл бұрын
On our drive up we averaged 150-200 miles a day. Now that we are in Alaska move days are only around 100 miles or less. We are spending our entire summer up here (June thru Sept) so we have the time to move slow.

Guys, thanks so much for sharing this trip with us. The bears are super cool. Good call in not hurrying through Canada - very beautiful there, lots to see. We especially appreciate you sharing the costs of the trip, as we plan to head back there in a couple of years (this time by Class A DP). Safe Travels!!

Wondering if you planned or found your campgrounds ahead of time or on the fly? Loving your videos. Making me hungry for a trip up.

+Jan Goodwater mostly on the fly. For this entire trip we only have two "booked reservations". We like to have the freedom to move about when we feel like i. That way we are not stuck to a schedule.

I thought your motorhome was a diesel pusher for some reason... That sure looked like a nasty road... Do y'all got air ride shocks on your rig?...
@RVingtoAlaska
@RVingtoAlaska 7 жыл бұрын
We are in a 38' DP... 380HP Cummins and we do have airbags. That road is the old highway from back in the day. It was suggested to take as a scenic side trip and honestly not that bad.
