OUTSTANDING video! Think you would have been better off, after snapping the center line, working from that center out to the sides. Technique keeps the final edge piece(s) of equal size and in proportion to the layout. The Behr paint has primer "mixed into" its Marquis product, but there is no substitute for a separate high quality primer given the extreme heat and humidity the RV cabin must tolerate.

Floor looks great!! That vinyl flooring is great stuff... Much better than the thin particle wood flooring with the cheap laminate film over it. That stuff wears bad, and will swell and bubble up if moisture gets in it. My son used this vinyl flooring in his basement, and it is fantastic! Easy to install, wears great, and water proof!!
@RVwithTito5 жыл бұрын
It seems to be pretty durable stuff. We'll see how it lasts long term.

Great flooring... We used the same. When we installed our flooring we installed it east and west (you went north and south) it made our RV feel wider and more spacious. One other thing we did, that you didn't was to seal the floor we used KILLS. Another great video Sir!!... Got to Love Washington Winters!!

Aron, I'm getting ready to refurb my 1985 Class A RV... I love this video too... but I noticed he didn't use any Glue... or Padding so the floor will float... I thought that in an RV the wood needs to really be able to flex with the movement... I am going to put my east and west too... so there are more boards to walk across than just down the middle of a couple of them... So you put glue down first ??? Thank you for your help.
@3tailsRV5 жыл бұрын
That is a great question. Under the carpet there is sub flooring. we painted the sub flooring with kills to hep seal it up then added the tile directly of the top. The problem with peel and stick flooring is you cant use a pad underlay and thickness of the floor is a concern when dealing with slide outs. Depend on your application and the RV..

Impressive! If the weather is starting to cool down wherever you are, and you'd like a free vacation to sunny Arizona, we've got a place for you to stay and a job we need your expertise on! My father passed away 2 weeks ago, right before we were planning to start some flooring repairs in his Class A RV so he could put it on the market. He was, like you, able to literally do/fix anything. I just hope I absorbed enough of his genius to begin to tackle some of his unfinished projects. I enjoyed watching this video! Reminded me of Dad.
@RVwithTito2 жыл бұрын
My condolences on your Dad. Yes. We're cooling down here in WA but are staying put given that we've been on the road 7 mo this year. Your Dad would probably be so impressed if you could tackle this project. The hardest part is really removing the old stuff and prepping the floor. Once you get to the flooring part, it goes quickly. Hopefully you can find a friend to help out. We have yet to tackle this project on our '03 Class A yet which still has carpet. Lots of other projects ahead of that one. Thanks for the offer. Good luck!

Great installation job. My only concern is expansion... some of those cuts were very tight and in the heat of summer you will likely have some bulging where you left no room. I did a porch with those planks and on hot days the entire center of the floor would come up in the air. I had to disassemble everything and trim off about 1/4" on all outside pieces to fix the problem. The floor has lasted over four years now and still looks good as new.

Man this has really opened my eyes. I've been thinking about replacing our carpet with something and I know know what. Did you do anything special under your slide?
@RVwithTito5 жыл бұрын
Nothing special under the slide. I went back as far as I could (about 2" from the slide frame)

Beautiful job. I'm in the middle of tearing out the carpet in my chinook. One and a half days pulling staples out of the padding!

Very nice. Great job! I plan to do the same thing. It's the engine cover that has me stumped.

VegasGuy89183 - Strip carpet/sand(smooth) surface and vinyl wrap it with whatever matches your interior (dash or trim). You can put stick on sound/heat barrier (Dynamat) on the engine side to compensate for the “insulation” the carpet gave you. Not sure on your exact needs....
@VegasGuy891835 жыл бұрын
@@ganders8845 I never considered vinyl. That sounds like a viable option. Thanks!

Great job Brian, that is something I have been thinking about, I was worried about the slideouts hitting the edge of the flooring. I did use the same product in my boat and loves the results.
@RVwithTito5 жыл бұрын
My slide sits above the floor so that's not an issue for me.
@DavidWhite5 жыл бұрын
Brian so do mine, I think there are rollers that ride on the floor, Those were my concern if they might damage the flooring, under where the slide runs in and out. Top be honest I haven't checked under there to see what happens
@mrinspector22068 ай бұрын
nice job. I would add that it's prob best for anyone doing this that has a slideout, that the flooring be thin enough to not cause an issue when the slide comes in. I've seen folks try to put laminate or thicker LVP in, do the whole job and then the slide scratches or even pulls up the floor. Best to try a test piece laid on the floor before starting
@RVwithTito8 ай бұрын
I agree. Every slide out is different. Some even rely on the existing carpet to slide. Once removed, it may cause problems.

Curious if laying loose lay vinyl in a cold climate will then buckle and warp when traveling to hot climates. It appeared they lock together with no expansion gaps? Nice job and looks great.
@RVwithTito5 жыл бұрын
It's a possibility. We'll see. I left a small gap on the edges and kept it warm in the RV during the install.
