It’s also that’s she’s intended to be a complicated person with a lot of issues. Her anger with her mother for leaving her, father for lying to her, and sister for needing her (it’s a natural resentment any older sibling slotted into a parental role can have) are things she channels into protecting people. She doesn’t want to be her mother so she uses her family as an excuse to punch at her problems instead of dealing. That and she knows she’s hot but doesn’t want to be just a babe people can use. She’s my favourite character (aside from Weiss) so I’m probably pretty biased in my analysis but I still stand by it.

That's one of the things that irritates me about the RWBY fandom is that some of us fail to remember that the soundtracks are just as important as what happens in the episodes, in some instances more so actually. Everyone complains that Ruby and Yang's sistership isn't fleshed out enough, but All Our Days is more than enough proof to me that their bond will remain forever unwavering throughout the show. It's such a testament to the show and its character building. What I wouldn't give to have a sibling who was so enamored by my very existence and growth as a person, let alone have a sibling in the first place - being an only child can be really tough when you feel like none one else is there for you, you just want someone who's been with you your whole life and experienced life just like you have. It'd be brilliant...
