I love this. So much The coloring! Is phenomenal and adds so much The moments when it's all gray really hit hard especially on the part with Ren and neo/Nora and him sitting up ACK my HEART The fractured my elbow was so well placed my heart ached. The last 30 seconds or so are my fav with the quick talking and the scene successions And the end really paid off. I audibly gasped when it ended with just the sharp cut to RWBY after jaune was boutta kill penny. And I sat there for a moment pondering. I'm so glad we're giving JNPR the love they deserve! They've developed so much and tbh I like them more then team RWBY. Amazing work!!!

I feel that this song, in combination with the visuals, almost perfectly encapsulates what far too many people (including myself) have gone through over the past year and a half. The upbeat instruments blend with the saturated colours to create a hopeful atmosphere, one that many have tried to manufacture over the pandemic, but the dour implications of the lyrics and the traumatic events of the clips themselves reveal that the joyous overtone is nothing more than a façade meant to hide the darkness that is swallowing what little positivity anyone has left. It does not matter how thoroughly you bleach the carpet and paint the walls, you cannot change the fact that someone died in that room. Transitioning to the desperate stream of consciousness at the end using the cracking tundra as a subtle visual cue is probably my favourite part of this video. And I think I can say based on the outburst, Jaune must have a terrible therapist...

I haven't agreed with a lot of the criticism that Jaune's character has gotten but I think having him to be the one to kill Penny felt... weird. Imagine if it had been Ruby (or, frankly, any member of team RWBY who all interacted with Penny way more) instead. The emotional weight that would have carried would have been so much greater as opposed to Jaune which just doesn't carry that as he and Penny were never close and barely interacted.

If it were Ruby, Penny would have passed the power onto her. (Which was Penny's original plan, "Kill me, then the powers will go to you.") Penny wasn't really close to anyone but Ruby and Winter. It made sense in that moment that Jaune (the healer) would run to her side and try to fix the situation only for it to go awry.

Jaune can't get the powers. If one of the girls (Nora or Weiss) killed her, they would. Penny thought Winter fit the powers well, and so she wanted Jaune to kill her because Jaune couldn't get them. Penny thought Ruby was dead at the time. And well...Jaune dislikes the idea of killing, but he understands sacrifice and how it can hurt. Ruby already refused to kill Penny earlier in the volume. I don't think any of them *would*.
