I just realized, The Lamp said "you can't" not "nothing can", which means there is a way to defeat Salem, but it's not Ozma. I mean, he asked "How do I destroy Salem?". And the answer was "you can't." so someone will be able to kill Salem.

Goddamn, I didn't actually realize how fast they were merging from V4 - V8. Oscar in Vol. 4 & 6 still walks & talks like himself V7 is where we really see the merging going on. He's walking, posing & talking like Oz. It's gonna be a sad day when Oscar goes away for good

Don't think that's how it works. I'm pretty sure the people Oz reincarnates into just become more like him and the merging is both personalities becoming one. Meaning Oscar isn't just becoming Ozpin, Ozpin is also becoming Oscar.

@@scytherind8928 Wasn't it something like Ozpin overtakes the original host? Like he does merge with them but he retains control in the end. Since the Ozpin from Vol. 1 - Vol. 3 that we know, wasn't even the OG Ozma. So I dunno, just remembering off muscle memory

@@iDeathMaximuMII The very first time, Ozma completely overtook his host, but his host did still have some influence on him. After that, it's implied that it is a true merger of the two minds. However, the issue here is that Ozpin is hundreds, maybe thousands of lifetimes stacked on top of each other. Oscar isn't just finding common mental ground with Ozpin, but all of Ozma's previous lives as well, so Oscar's personality won't do much to change the average that Ozpin already was.

When I rewatched Vol 8, when Winter cried out for Weiss after she plummeted into the darkness, I felt that and teared up a bit 🥺 You can almost tell that in that moment, she was devastated that despite the new powers given to her, she wasn’t able to save her baby sister 😭 Props to the VA 👍

The thing about it is: people change. He's a kid being forced to grow up too fast & grow into a role no one else can fill. So there's a serious and credible argument to be made that much of this is Oscar adapting in a way natural to his situation, as much as anything mystical. He did not sign up for this, we don't sign up for a lot of things in life. Much as we might wish it differently. Kid is preforming admirably. And it is him. Setting aside how much that is "him" or "them" or some gradient in-between: so much of what he was doing at the end there in Atlas was so out of the box Ozpin operated in that Oscar might as well being hoping around on shards of the moon! The box is gone, most of Ozpin's inner circle have failed him, secrets are no longer the protection they once were, and Oscar scarcely has authority over so much as a houseplant! So if you think about it, Ozpin is having to adjust and adapt just as much (if not more given how set in his ways he probably was). They're literally meeting each other half way. We're never going to know who Oscar could have grown into without Ozma's past selves coloring his life or the loose ends of Ozpin's life invading his own. But we do know he's going to solve these problems his way & his friends are going to help him.

I think Ozpin and Ruby are polar opposites the more you think about. Ozpin lead a secret brotherhood to stop Salem, and Ruby became the de facto leader in the war against Salem after Oz disappears, Ozpin was the Chosen One to unity humanity in harmony by the God of Light, while Ruby is the Unchosen One, who got into the secret war by pure chance, they both learn from their mistakes, with Ozpin realizing that he should have trusted the heroes with the truth, and Ruby realized that she doesn’t need to be perfect to be a Huntress after seeing her mother lying about her mission.
