New band name. Much more gnarly than Puddle of Mudd. River of Grimm

Probably the best episode so far. (I hope it isn't the best episode of the volume.) Great pacing and flow. The fight was good. And of course, the feels. The Neo v Maria fight was entertaining, though short. I know have said in the past that nothing short of a Maiden can land a hit on Neo. (Silly punch from a farmboy not withstanding.) But from Maria! I can actually give that a little pass. (It's still took a maiden to take her down anyway.) Maiden v Maiden was awesome. Oh look! Penny actually used her lasers. And quite effectively. I was bewildered why she didn't use them the last time she fought Cinder. Seems like yet another case of a character remembering (or forgetting) their capabilities as convenient to the plot. Only issue I had was with the presentation of Emerald's semblance. Emerald produces hallucinations from mind manipulation. As shown against Maria, it was on point. However, against Penny!? She has a computer for a brain. That shouldn't have worked. The writers treated her semblance like an illusion, which Penny saw through with her thermal vision. Illusions are not what Emerald does.

Totally agree with you on Em's semblance that Should NOT have worked on Penny.

Emerald was affecting Penny's mind to make her "see" the visual images of Cinder. Her Semblance likely affects the visual cortex for normal vision, which is why it affected Maria to cloak the ship; even though her gathering instrument is mechanical, it's still being processed in the visual cortex.. But Emerald's capabilities don't seem to extend beyond that visual cortex to the infrared, which is why when Penny shifted over to the thermal sensor from normal sight, Emerald's illusions vanished.

@@charlietango261 But Penny does not have a visual cortex. To mis-quote Star Trek; Penny is a toaster.

Question. Was Raven going to Tye to seek redemption, or just because her teleporting semblance is only connected to Qrow, Yang and Tye and he was the only one not at the academy?

That is a good question. Hmmmmm?

yeah, I'd thought it was just because Tai was her only other teleport target available. I'd assumed she probably also had created a bond to Vernal to return to camp - but that obviously wasn't helpful with Vernal being there with her.. and dead.
@charlietango2613 жыл бұрын
Portalling to Taiyang was her only way out from the situation. Raven had four people we know of whom her Semblance let her portal to: Qrow, Yang, Taiyang and Vernal. Vernal at that point was dead, and the other two were there at Haven. So her only out from Haven was to jump to Taiyang. I still think she is there with him at that point (upstairs asleep) and they will save that revelation for a later moment. But that's just my headcanon.

@@charlietango261 A reveal that she had decided to stay a little while to recover is not something I'd be opposed to. It's been a relatively short time still, so the bandits are probably used to organising independently for at least a while.
