In case y'all don't know, Awake features backing vocals by Elizabeth Hull, who is the singer for another Berklee band called Atomic Guava. They and Ok Goodnight share a couple of band members (Martin and Augusto), and they are also incredibly sick. I'd definitely recommend checking them out, they've got a different vibe from Ok Goodnight, but damn can Hull drop a metal scream.

I'm not quite as musically inclined as you all, but in "Treasure", I believe what Matthew was talking about with that familiarity was from "All That Matters". It'd make sense seeing how this was another pivotal reunion with all of team RWBY at Haven. Idk just a guess...

I was really disappointed that they didn’t expand on Cinders song, because it started out so amazing and I can remember really looking forward to the full version when I first heard it in the show. I would love it if they ever did a full version

That's wasn't Cinder song. It was awake was made up years ago used in Cinder's backstory.

When they were talking about how if the Truth WAS to get a full version they would want something like Once Upon a December, all I could think was how awesome it would be to have a full version of the song based on the waltz in Dance Dance Infiltration in V2 (a jazz version of it plays in the glass unicorn during Midnight, V8)

God I don't know how Jeff and Casey do this to me. They make good music, they make music I like. They make music where I hear it the first time and I'm like meh, and the second time I'm like, no, then the third time I'm like "This is my jam!" especially with the less metal songs, which is particularly odd since until their music I never liked metal.

This is very uncanny. You've described my experience with Casey and Jeff's music. I sort of like it on first listen, but on successive re-listens it gets better and better. Not many other musicians who have that effect.

Thank you for the video guys, I learn a lot about from your conversations :D That being said, it is easy to say "I don't care about shipping" when you see yourself to the point of exhaustion in all sort of media; having characters like Blake & Yang is short of revolutionary for many people my age. Queer stories for my generations were always a sad fest where the characters suffer and die tragically for being gay; having a show like rwby with cool fights in a fantasy / sci-fi setting that just so happens to have LGTBQ characters is a gift and I thank the crwby for it's inclusion

Hey, welcome back.... it's been a hot minute. Truth be told this is my least favorite RWBY soundtrack. While for you musicologists the complexity and dynamics of the songs were remarkable, I found this hard to listen to. I can't see myself wanting to add any of these songs to a playlist to re-listen to. And on the Cinder song: We wanted the song to give us some more of that backstory. So many of the RWBY songs in the expanded versions give us so much more depth. This song NEEDED that depth, and it just wasn't there. It was like the rest of her backstory; too late and not enough.

Shortly after the two hour mark: I don't care about the Pinocchio story. I care about the RWBY story and the moral of this story is "Don't bother trying to make things better. It won't help so kill your friend now." And that I can't live with. I hope if/when I come back in the future something has been done to make the show better but as of right now I an still in the "F--k this show" state of mind. I'm just here for more Casey and Jeff magic and y'all's expert takes on the music.
