I have to say, I'm enjoying these lineups you're putting out! There's a lot of thought being put into these, and while there are some snubs, it's nevertheless an enjoyable ride! I'm looking forward to the 1966-70 lineup, but there's so much that's great about those years that I'm sure it's a difficult one to make. I've tried dabbling in this myself. Here are my picks: SUNDAY 7:00: James at 15 (1977/NBC) 8:00: How the West Was Won (1977/ABC) 9:00: The Amazing Spider-Man (1977/CBS) 10:00: Ellery Queen (1975/NBC) MONDAY 8:00: Little House on the Prairie (1974/NBC) 9:00: Friends and Lovers (1974/CBS) 9:30: Soap (1977/ABC) 10:00: Kolchak: The Night Stalker (1974/NBC) TUESDAY 8:00: Family (1976/ABC) 9:00: Quincy, M.E. (1976/NBC) 10:00: Lou Grant (1977/CBS) WEDNESDAY 8:00: The Texas Wheelers (1974/ABC) 8:30: Barney Miller (1975/ABC) 9:00: Three's Company (1977/ABC) 9:30: Hot l Baltimore (1975/ABC) 10:00: The Rockford Files (1974/NBC) THURSDAY 8:00: CHiPs (1977/NBC) 9:00: Medical Story (1975/NBC) 10:00: Baa Baa Black Sheep (1977/NBC) FRIDAY 8:00: When Things Were Rotten (1975/ABC) 8:30: Good Heavens (1976/ABC) 9:00: Quark (1977/NBC) 9:30: C.P.O. Sharkey (1977/NBC) 10:00: Dallas (1978/CBS) SATURDAY 8:00: The Jeffersons (1975/CBS) 8:30: Ball Four (1976/CBS) 9:00: One Day at a Time (1975/CBS) 9:30: Doc (1975/CBS) 10:00: The Richard Pryor Show (1977/NBC)

I was ok until I read your main comment and some of the other comments, now I must vent. Network TV has a long history of KILLING good shows. The Night Stalker was just another of their victims. Why do the Networks even bother with any sort of Sci-Fi type shows when they are simply going to put them on nights and times that nobody ever watches them? I friggin' HATE the main 4 Networks. If a Cable Network would have been around during this time and had this show, it would have probably made 5 years for sure. Granted, yes, monsters would have run short after a couple of years, but with any sort of creativity, they could have made up some new ones. Look at just the Legends and Myths of creatures around the world, let alone the nation. Hell, even up in Northern Minnesota we have one called the Vergas Hairy Man.

Angie Dickinson, who starred in the series "Police Woman", was one of a number of actresses who played action heroines on television during the 1970s and 1980s. Others include Lynda Carter as "Wonder Woman", Lindsay Wagner in "The Bionic Woman", Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly in "Cagney and Lacey", and the late Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith, and Kate Jackson in "Charlie's Angels". Miss Dickinson is a fine actress who has starred in many films from the late 1950s up to the 1970s. She will be celebrating her 90th birthday on Sept. 30. If she's lucky, she'll live to be 100. Let's hope she does.

Thanks. When one goes through 4 years worth of lineups to draw up an ideal schedule, it shouldn't surprise anyone how much junk aired at the time, or at any time, so the intros in this video really are of shows I consider to be the better and the best of the lot within the 1974-78 period. Aside from these, I viewed about a half-dozen or so others that could've also qualified, including some due to their reviews and/or popularity, i.e. Soap, but I never got much into any of them or Soap, having always found its satire belabored, so, this lineup being my creation, Soap got the boot, while at the same time some, or most, would probably question why I included Baby I'm Back or The Bob Crane Show - simply that I found they were among the lesser "better" ones that still managed to entertain in a way Soap never seemed to for me. Perhaps because I expected less from them and got a bit more, whereas the reverse was the case with Soap. But then, that's just me and my sense of humor. Everybody's got their own fantasy lineups, but when push comes to shove as to which lesser or questionable shows get included to complete the lineup after all the best ones have been selected, it can get a bit tricky in trying to reason some of them out. This is almost like a job, I should get paid for this.

WOW Thanks for this. Before viewing this I had forgotten that with shows like The Bob Crane Show, Baby, I'm Back and Harry O, TV in the 1970s really was a waste land. Then to see the hubris of people like Tony Randall thinking that his name alone would cause people to flock to see a tv series with him in it--astonishing. What I did find amazing was how people like Kim Fields and Tim Thomerson would survive loser shows to go on to something memorable. Of course, we can't forget that this showcase also allowed us to remember that there was truly talented people who jumped from one series to another within just a couple of years. For example, James Garner became known for the early TV series Maverick and then a decade or so later became known to a new audience as Rockford. Thanks for that.

Hisanori Tsukada THE NIGHT STALKER was shown on many CBS stations in the 1980's before they got a successful late night talk show. If I'm remembering correctly they had a special opening for the syndicated release of the series that featured the various supernatural threats our hero faced over the course of the series.

I still revisit some Night Stalker episodes, every few months or so; sometimes I love the scenes at the INS office even more than the mysteries. In the late 70s, CBS would air Night Stalker reruns late on Friday nights, just before the Friday Night Late Movie; I remember one Friday night when I was a kid, I had a buddy over to spend the night; we camped out in the living room, watched The Night Stalker, followed by The Devil's Rain....trippy late night viewing, to be sure.

I was too young for a lot if these, that were more adult fare. The ones I did like or watch were James at 15, CPO Sharkey, Petrocelli and ofcours Dallas, although I would define Dallas as an 80s show, even though it started in the 70s. Mum and Dad watched Hiwvtte West was one, it would be interesting to see a young Bruce Boxleiter. I'd like to see Baa Baa Black Sheep and Night Stalker. If we're going obscure, I would add Apples Way, Swiss Family Robinson, Planet of the Apes, Logan's Run, Blankseys Beauties. For hits I'd add Happy Days, Charlie's Angels, Six Million Dollar Man and Sonny and Cher.

All of those shows debuted before '74--and, therefore, would've been ineligible here. Quinn Martin's new shows during this era ('74-78) tended to be flops--although some (e.g., The Manhunter) may have deserved a better fate. (Edited to note that Streets does appear in the 1970-74 fantasy lineup--along with two other QM shows [Dan August and Banyon].)

There is a Channel Currently showing Chips but we got Jipped out of this version of the theme. I think they started around season 3 or 4.

Plus Frank Poncherello and John Baker they make out to be like Action Jackson, or Gi Joe but without using their Guns. Because they show Karate, they are skydiving, Flying planes, on every type of recreational vehicle for fun in the woods, the dirt, etc in the episodes.

Remember his last series? Can't recall the name but I think it was about a post-Civil War soldier who was buried alive... it was hard for me to watch because he was already ill while it aired.

Kim Fields was doing TV commercials at that time. I remember a Mrs. Butterworth commercial that she did while this show "flashed" on the screen.

I noticed some of your fantasy lineups included quite a few downright flops (in this set, Bob Crane, Texas Wheelers, Medical Story and more). Perhaps you should make a video set dedicated to TV series flops that should have done better.

Well, I did do one like that - 17 TV Series Cancelled too Soon - 2000-2006. But a show that may've tanked in the ratings doesn't necessarily mean it was a bad show, although it seems that judging by my fantasy lineups I'm somewhat partial to ratings failures as about half of my picks seem to have only lasted a single season or even only a handful of episodes (i.e. Richard Pryor).
